Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Own the full permitting process end-to-end for Ernest’s rapidly expanding portfolio of commercial construction projects across Bogotá and surrounding municipalities. You will be the single point of accountability for ensuring every permit—electrical, mechanical, plumbing, environmental, occupancy, façade, signage, and more—is accurately prepared, submitted, tracked, and approved within the aggressive timelines our clients expect.
- • Prepare, review, and submit permit applications and supporting technical drawings, calculations, and compliance certificates to more than 15 different city, regional, and national agencies, each with its own forms, fees, digital portals, and inspection protocols. You will translate complex engineering documents into regulator-friendly language and verify that every line item meets the latest code revisions.
- • Coordinate and schedule all permitting-related inspections, ensuring job sites are compliant, accessible, and properly documented before inspectors arrive. This includes arranging temporary utilities, safety barricades, and on-site personnel briefings so that walk-throughs are completed on the first attempt, eliminating costly re-inspection delays.
- • Maintain proactive, professional communication with city officials, fire marshals, zoning officers, environmental agents, and third-party plan reviewers. You will build trusted relationships that allow you to clarify gray areas, negotiate reasonable corrections, and fast-track approvals when project schedules demand.
- • Keep meticulous, real-time records in Ernest’s project management system: permit statuses, expiration dates, renewal windows, inspection outcomes, and conditional approvals. Your dashboards will give project managers, superintendents, and executives full visibility into risk exposure and upcoming deadlines.
- • Identify permitting bottlenecks or regulatory changes early—before they derail construction timelines—and recommend practical, compliant solutions. You will run “what-if” scenarios, model lead-time impacts, and present mitigation options such as phased permits, alternate code paths, or pre-approved assemblies.
- • Contribute to the continuous improvement of Ernest’s permitting workflows, templates, and standard operating procedures. As the company scales into new jurisdictions and service lines, you will codify lessons learned, automate repetitive tasks, and train junior coordinators to replicate your success.
- • Serve as the internal educator on all things permitting: running lunch-and-learns for project engineers, creating quick-reference guides for superintendents, and flagging upcoming regulatory updates that could affect design decisions or material procurement.
- • Champion a culture of compliance and safety, ensuring that every shortcut avoided today prevents costly rework, fines, or shutdowns tomorrow. Your work directly protects Ernest’s reputation, client relationships, and bottom line.
- • Thrive in Ernest’s fast-moving, tech-enabled startup environment where priorities can shift overnight and creative problem-solving is valued over rigid hierarchy. You will have the autonomy to pilot new tools—whether digital submission portals, AI-driven code checkers, or GIS-based zoning maps—and the support of cross-functional teammates who share a single mission: delivering world-class construction services on time and on budget.
