- • Serve as a senior underwriter responsible for evaluating, pricing, and structuring complex construction-related insurance risks, with a focus on project excess liability, wrap-ups, and contractor business within the E&S market.
- • Own the full underwriting lifecycle for construction programs, from submission intake to policy issuance, ensuring fast, accurate, and compliant decision-making using technology-enabled underwriting workflows.
- • Build and maintain strong, trusted relationships with wholesale brokers and agent partners to drive profitable business flow and expand Kinetic’s construction program footprint.
- • Help scale Kinetic’s construction program from the ground up by establishing foundational underwriting practices, protocols, and risk appetite guidelines that support sustainable growth.
- • Partner directly with Engineering, Product, and Operations teams to design, test, and implement AI-enabled tools and digital workflows that improve underwriting efficiency, reduce manual noise, and accelerate turnaround times.
- • Evaluate policy language, exclusions, endorsements, and coverage limitations with technical precision to ensure appropriate risk selection and pricing alignment with market standards.
- • Operate autonomously in a high-volume, fast-paced environment, consistently delivering high-quality underwriting decisions under tight deadlines without compromising accuracy or compliance.
- • Maintain active communication with internal stakeholders and external partners, adapting tone and detail level appropriately for brokers, carriers, and cross-functional teams.
- • Demonstrate strong organizational skills by managing multiple priorities simultaneously, tracking submissions, renewals, and broker pipelines with meticulous attention to detail.
- • Proactively identify gaps in processes or coverage structures and take initiative to build solutions where none exist, contributing to the continuous improvement of the program platform.
- • Embrace an entrepreneurial mindset by contributing ideas to enhance product design, underwriting automation, and risk modeling within the construction vertical.
- • Maintain compliance with all state regulatory requirements, including holding active home state general and surplus lines licenses.
- • Travel as needed to meet with brokers, attend industry events, or support partner relationships, with a valid driver’s license required.
- • Collaborate with teammates to support shared goals, celebrate collective wins, and foster a culture of accountability, integrity, and mutual support.
🎯 Requirements
- • 7+ years of underwriting experience in a carrier, MGA, or MGU with a proven track record in E&S underwriting
- • Deep expertise in construction risks, including project excess liability, wrap-ups, and contractor business
- • Active home state general and surplus lines licenses
- • Strong existing relationships within the wholesale distribution marketplace
- • Ability to operate effectively in high-pressure, high-volume environments with speed and accuracy
- • Clear written and verbal communication skills with ability to adapt tone across stakeholders
