Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Own the end-to-end Continuous Improvement (CI) program for a $1B GMV, 500-person company that is redefining how parents discover, purchase, and experience baby products. You will be the single point of accountability for identifying, prioritizing, and driving initiatives that eliminate waste, reduce cycle time, and unlock capacity across every function—engineering, merchandising, operations, customer experience, and content.
- • Establish a data-driven CI operating model that turns insights into measurable impact. You will build and maintain a living pipeline of improvement opportunities sourced from customer feedback, NPS drivers, operational KPIs, financial levers, and employee pain points. Each initiative will have a clear hypothesis, success metric, owner, and timeline, tracked in a centralized dashboard visible to the entire organization.
- • Lead cross-functional Kaizen events, value-stream mapping workshops, and rapid experimentation sprints. You will coach squads of engineers, buyers, planners, CX agents, and marketers to surface root causes, design countermeasures, and validate results within 30-, 60-, and 90-day windows. Your facilitation will create psychological safety and a bias for action, ensuring every participant leaves with both new skills and tangible wins.
- • Embed Lean Six Sigma, Agile, and OKR methodologies into Babylist’s DNA. You will train and certify “green-belt” champions in each department, create lightweight playbooks, and institutionalize daily huddles, weekly retros, and monthly business reviews. Over time, CI will shift from a centralized program to a self-sustaining culture where every teammate asks, “How can we make this 1% better today?”
- • Partner with Finance and Data Science to quantify the ROI of every improvement. You will build models that translate defect reduction, lead-time compression, and customer delight into incremental revenue, margin expansion, and lifetime value. Executive leadership will rely on your analysis to decide where to double-down or pivot.
- • Serve as the voice of the customer inside operational excellence. You will shadow CX calls, review unboxing videos, and analyze registry drop-off funnels to ensure that efficiency gains never compromise the magical, trust-building experience new parents expect from Babylist.
- • Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion within CI efforts. You will audit processes for hidden bias, ensure accessibility standards are met, and prioritize improvements that serve under-represented communities of parents.
- • Report directly to the VP of Operations while maintaining dotted-line relationships with Engineering, Merchandising, and Customer Experience VPs. You will present monthly to the executive team and quarterly to the Board, showcasing wins, lessons learned, and next-quarter OKRs.
- • Scale the CI program globally as Babylist expands into new geographies and product categories. You will design lightweight governance so that regional teams can localize playbooks without diluting standards.
- • Influence technology roadmaps by translating process pain points into clear user-stories and ROI cases for the Product team. Your insights will help prioritize features in the registry, checkout, fulfillment, and content platforms.
🎯 Requirements
- • 5+ years leading continuous improvement or operational excellence in high-growth e-commerce, marketplace, or DTC environments with at least $100M in annual GMV
- • Black Belt or Master Black Belt certification in Lean Six Sigma with demonstrated ability to coach others to Green Belt level
- • Expert-level proficiency in SQL, Tableau/Looker, and statistical process control; comfortable writing queries and building dashboards without analyst support
- • Track record of delivering $5M+ in annualized savings or revenue lift through cross-functional projects spanning supply chain, product, and customer experience
- • Exceptional facilitation and change-management skills—experience running Kaizen events, design sprints, and OKR workshops in fully remote settings
🏖️ Benefits
- • Fully remote-first culture with quarterly on-sites in Los Angeles, Portland, or rotating “family-friendly” destinations
- • 16 weeks fully paid parental leave for all parents, plus gradual return-to-work coaching and a $500 “welcome baby” stipend
- • Annual $2,000 professional-development budget that can be used for certifications, conferences, or coaching
- • Equity participation in a profitable, high-growth company on a mission to become the generational brand in baby
