  • • The Contract Development Manager at Amgen plays a critical role in enabling patient access to life-changing medicines by managing the end-to-end lifecycle of specialty pharmacy customer contracts, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and alignment with Amgen’s mission to serve patients with serious illnesses.
  • • This role directly supports Amgen’s commercial strategy by translating complex discount structures and rebate programs into legally sound contract language, thereby facilitating market access and sustainable revenue generation for innovative therapies in oncology, inflammation, general medicine, and rare disease.
  • • Day-to-day responsibilities include drafting and editing agreements, amendments, notice letters, and other contract documents with precision to reflect nuanced pricing and rebate structures; collaborating cross-functionally with Trade Development, Legal, Government Programs, Coverage & Pricing, and Contract & Pricing Execution teams to ensure alignment on business objectives and regulatory compliance.
  • • The manager is responsible for maintaining data integrity in Amgen’s Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM) system by accurately entering, tracking, and reporting contract terms, ensuring the system reflects final executed agreements and supports audit readiness and leadership reporting.
  • • Additional duties involve researching and producing contract documentation for internal and external audits or litigation, managing planned and ad-hoc special projects within the U.S. Value & Access organization, and facilitating document review meetings to communicate status, history, and key process controls to stakeholders.
  • • The role requires proactive project management, including prioritizing competing demands, developing timelines for multiple assignments, and exercising independent judgment to resolve ambiguities in contract language or business requirements.
  • • Amgen’s Contract Development team operates within a dynamic, mission-driven environment where collaboration, scientific rigor, and operational excellence are valued; the team is integral to the US Value & Access (USV&A) organization, which focuses on optimizing patient access and affordability of Amgen’s portfolio.
  • • Employees at Amgen benefit from a culture that emphasizes innovation, inclusivity, and patient-centricity, with opportunities to grow professionally while contributing to breakthrough therapies that impact millions of lives globally.
  • • In this role, the individual will develop deep expertise in pharmaceutical contracting, regulatory compliance, and cross-functional stakeholder management, gaining exposure to complex pricing strategies, healthcare policy implications, and biotech commercial operations—skills that are highly transferable and career-advancing within the life sciences industry.

🎯 Requirements

  • • Bachelor’s degree and 4 years of commercial contracting, sales operations, finance, and/or analytics experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience as outlined in the basic qualifications (e.g., Master’s + 2 years, Associate’s + 8 years, HS/GED + 10 years, or Doctorate).
  • • Proven experience in legal document drafting, particularly in dynamic environments such as biotech, consulting, or technology firms, with strong proficiency in Microsoft Word and administrative tasks.
  • • Demonstrated ability to manage high volumes of contract requests, prioritize competing initiatives, maintain exceptional attention to detail, and work independently with minimal direction while exercising sound business judgment.

🏖️ Benefits

  • • Comprehensive employee benefits package including group medical, dental, and vision coverage, life and disability insurance, flexible spending accounts, and a Retirement and Savings Plan with generous company contributions.
  • • Discretionary annual bonus program and stock-based long-term incentives to reward performance and align employee success with company growth.
  • • Award-winning time-off plans, bi-annual company-wide shutdowns, and flexible work models, including remote work arrangements where possible, supporting work-life balance and well-being.
