- • Join Axon’s Guidance, Navigation & Control (GNC) team in Brussels to develop flight control systems for next-generation drones and ground robots used by Special Forces and Law Enforcement, directly supporting the mission to Protect Life and reduce gun-related deaths by 50% in 10 years.
- • Implement and test flight modes on ROS 2 using C++ or Rust, tune PX4 control loops and EKF state estimators, troubleshoot flight performance issues on real hardware, and collaborate with Firmware and Imaging teams to integrate sensors and improve nominal and degraded flight behaviors.
- • Work within Axon’s Robotics New Ventures pillar, contributing to aerial drones (Thor, Scout) and ground robots (Sigyn) through software-focused controls engineering, writing Python scripts for data analysis and test automation, and participating in flight testing sessions to iterate based on real-world results.
- • Grow technically by applying control theory to real-world robotics challenges, gaining hands-on experience with PX4, ROS 2, embedded systems, and sensor fusion while working on mission-critical technology that advances public safety and justice.
🎯 Requirements
- • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent field
- • Minimum 1-2 years of industry or hands-on project experience (internships, thesis work, and personal projects qualify)
- • Proficiency in reading and writing code in C, C++, or Rust; MATLAB or Simulink-only experience is not sufficient for this role
- • Understanding of control systems fundamentals including PID controllers, signal filtering, and state estimation
- • Familiarity with core drone sensors (IMU, barometer, magnetometer, GPS) and how they contribute to state estimation
- • Comfortable using Linux and the terminal, with experience in Git for collaborative version control
- • Proficiency in Python or another scripting language for data analysis, log parsing, and test automation
