📋 Description

• As Controller at Relevance AI, you will own and scale the accounting function in Sydney, playing a critical role in ensuring financial accuracy, compliance, and operational rigor for a fast-growing, international AI company backed by top-tier investors.
• You will lead month-end close processes, manage financial reporting, oversee tax submissions for Australian and US entities, and drive process improvements using cloud-based accounting systems to support strategic decision-making at the leadership level.
• The finance team at Relevance AI is building scalable financial infrastructure to support global operations, working cross-functionally to enable growth while maintaining strong internal controls and audit readiness.
• This role offers the opportunity to shape the foundation of the accounting function from the ground up, gain visibility with executive leadership, and develop expertise in international compliance, financial systems optimization, and strategic finance in a high-growth tech environment.
• You will strengthen financial policies, manage cash flow and treasury activities, ensure timely government lodgements (including BAS, PAYG, and state taxes), and lead audit coordination to maintain stakeholder confidence and regulatory adherence.
• By leveraging tools like QuickBooks or NetSuite and applying strong Excel and BI skills, you will enhance data accuracy, automate manual workflows, and build capacity within the finance team to support Relevance AI’s mission of powering the AI workforce.

🎯 Requirements

• CA/CPA qualified with 8+ years of experience building or enhancing accounting functions from the ground up
• Hands-on experience with cloud-based accounting platforms (QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar) and ability to resolve complex technical accounting issues
• Proven track record in financial reporting, month-end close, tax compliance (Australian and US entities), and audit management
• Strong analytical skills with practical expertise in Excel, data processing, and BI tools for financial planning and analysis
• Demonstrated experience in cash flow management, banking/treasury, and hedging strategies (advantageous)
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills to navigate operational complexity and drive process improvements
