- • As Controller at Quotewell Inc., you will own the company’s accounting function from day one, inheriting a clean set of books and building the foundation for the first formal audit while serving as the operational backbone of the finance department.
- • You will manage end-to-month and quarter-end close processes, oversee accounts payable/receivable and general ledger reconciliations, maintain accurate books in QuickBooks across entities, process payroll in coordination with HR, and manage banking relationships, wire approvals, and cash flow visibility.
- • You will work closely with a fractional CFO and FP&A analyst, providing financial operations partnership to department heads, supporting forecast inputs and variance analysis, and contributing to financing events, board materials, and strategic planning.
- • You will lead audit preparation as the primary internal point of contact for the first financial audit (targeted Q4), select and manage the external audit firm, prepare audit-ready workpapers, identify and remediate gaps in documentation or controls, and coordinate with legal and the fractional CFO on technical accounting questions.
- • You will produce monthly financial statements and management reports, build and maintain an internal control environment appropriate for a growth-stage company, prepare board-ready financial packages, ensure compliance with revenue recognition standards (ASC 606), and monitor and report on venture debt covenants.
- • You will gain direct exposure to executive leadership, meaningful ownership of your function from day one, and the opportunity to build and scale the accounting infrastructure in a high-growth, AI-powered insurance brokerage backed by venture capital.
🎯 Requirements
- • 5–8 years of accounting experience, with at least 2–3 years in a high-growth startup or technology company environment
- • Prior public accounting experience (CPA or CPA-eligible strongly preferred; Big 4 or regional firm background a plus)
- • Hands-on experience preparing for, or supporting a financial statement audit
- • Proficiency with QuickBooks Online
- • Strong working knowledge of GAAP, including revenue recognition (ASC 606) and equity compensation accounting
