📋 Description

• Take end-to-end ownership of key areas of the month-end close, including general ledger (GL) accounts, intercompany transactions, and expense allocations, ensuring clear documentation, tight controls, and a reliable review cadence
• Use AI tools to enhance close quality by identifying issues earlier, improving flux and variance analysis, and drafting standardized checklists and controls documentation to elevate team-wide standards
• Lead cross-functional initiatives such as system implementations, process improvements, audit preparations, and new entity openings, with defined timelines, milestones, and consistent communication throughout
• Mentor junior accounting team members by setting clear development goals, providing regular feedback, and investing in their long-term growth as the team scales
• Partner closely with FP&A, Treasury, Payroll, Accounts Payable (AP), and Tax teams to ensure alignment, timely execution, and smooth progress on shared accounting projects
• Support business reporting needs through recurring management reports and ad hoc financial analysis in response to evolving business questions
• Identify and drive opportunities for process automation and operational efficiency to make the accounting close and reporting more scalable, audit-ready, and aligned with the company’s next stage of growth
• Maintain compliance with US GAAP standards, including accurate expense allocations and intercompany accounting across multiple global entities
• Manage multi-currency accounting and reporting requirements for Notion’s international operations, ensuring accurate consolidation and currency translation
• Work in-person on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays (Anchor Days) at the San Francisco office to collaborate directly with cross-functional teams and foster high-quality collective problem-solving
• Apply an AI-forward mindset to daily tasks, using AI as a collaborative tool to improve accuracy, speed, and documentation quality without treating it as a novelty
• Ensure accounting processes are built for durability and scalability, focusing on long-term system integrity rather than short-term task completion

🎯 Requirements

• 6+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally at a high-growth or multinational SaaS company
• Solid grounding in US GAAP, expense allocations, and intercompany accounting
• Hands-on experience with accounting systems such as NetSuite, Zip, Ramp, or similar tools
• Comfort with multi-currency accounting and reporting across global entities
• Strong project management skills with a track record of driving cross-functional initiatives from kickoff to completion
• An AI-forward mindset and comfort using AI tools to improve accounting accuracy, speed, and documentation
