📋 Description
- • Evaluate new case and add-on risks to ensure timely and quality underwriting by reviewing enrollment materials and detailed medical records to determine appropriate underwriting actions.
- • Enroll new groups and members on carrier online systems to facilitate accurate and efficient processing of applications.
- • Review final rates, benefit options, and underwriting requirements to ensure compliance with carrier guidelines and policy terms.
- • Contact brokers and agents to request additional information when cases require clarification or missing documentation.
- • Generate accurate quotes based on actual enrollment data to ensure correct premium calculations are submitted to carriers.
- • Notify brokers and agents of the status of cases, including approvals, declines, or withdrawals, and alert them to overdue premium payments.
- • Process broker of record change letters and agent licensing documentation to ensure proper appointment with carriers and accurate commission payments.
- • Respond to broker inquiries promptly and accurately to maintain strong external relationships and service standards.
- • Maintain strict adherence to company confidentiality standards regarding sensitive member and carrier information.
- • Stay current on medical conditions, terminology, and evolving insurance products to support accurate underwriting decisions.
- • Manage multiple tasks simultaneously while meeting deadlines and maintaining high-quality output in a fast-paced environment.
- • Collaborate with team members using video and screen sharing technology to ensure seamless remote teamwork and communication.
- • Perform duties requiring prolonged sitting, frequent speaking and hearing, and occasional standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and lifting up to 25 lbs.
- • Be available for occasional long or irregular hours to meet business needs and processing deadlines.
- • Interpret and apply underwriting procedures, regulations, and contractual obligations accurately and consistently.
- • Negotiate effectively with brokers and agents to resolve case issues and align on underwriting outcomes.
- • Determine when issues require escalation to supervisors or other departments to ensure timely resolution.
- • Contribute to a positive, inclusive, and collaborative team culture focused on trust, inclusion, and innovation.
- • Utilize Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook Exchange) proficiently to manage data, documentation, and communications.
- • Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills when interacting with internal staff and external brokers/carriers.
🎯 Requirements
- • High School diploma or equivalent with a minimum of one (1) year of underwriting or related medical insurance experience; Associate degree preferred
- • Working knowledge of medical conditions/terminology and insurance products
- • Basic understanding of underwriting principles
- • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook Exchange) and Internet Explorer
- • Strong ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with internal and external stakeholders
- • Ability to read, comprehend, and interpret underwriting procedures, regulations, and contracts
