- • At Column, we are revolutionizing the financial services landscape by providing technology-forward banking solutions that streamline the complex infrastructure currently hindering fintech growth and innovation. We are a bank and a software company built from the ground up, designed to eliminate the hundreds of vendors, middleware providers, and abstraction layers that plague the traditional banking supply chain. Our mission is to create a safer, more transparent, and cost-effective banking ecosystem for builders and developers.
- • As a Customer Due Diligence (CDD) specialist, you will play a pivotal role in executing and enhancing Column's Know Your Customer (KYC) program. This includes managing Customer Identification Program (CIP), Customer Due Diligence (CDD), and Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) processes. You will be instrumental in onboarding and conducting periodic reviews for the bank's high-risk customers, ensuring our KYC program remains at the forefront of industry best practices.
- • Your responsibilities will extend to actively contributing to the enhancement of Column's KYC program, procedures, and controls. You will collaborate closely with Compliance stakeholders to perform the Anti-Money Laundering (AML) components of due diligence for the bank's fintech partnerships, ensuring robust risk management across all client relationships.
- • This role reports into the Bank's first line of defense, providing a critical link between business operations and regulatory compliance. While an in-person presence in our Presidio-based office is strongly preferred, we are open to remote applicants with the understanding that periodic travel may be required to foster collaboration and maintain operational excellence.
- • **Customer Identification and Verification:** You will be tasked with further enhancing the bank's Customer Identification and Verification processes and controls for both retail and commercial banking customers, with a specific focus on fintech relationships. This involves meticulous review and resolution of any manual reviews flagged by onboarding tools, in close coordination with Financial Crimes Compliance (FCC) and other first and second-line stakeholders.
- • **Customer Due Diligence and Enhanced Due Diligence:** You will take ownership of refining business and FCC-led due diligence processes and controls for retail and commercial banking customers, including critical fintech partnerships. This includes the diligent collection, thorough review, and comprehensive assessment of due diligence information, ensuring strict adherence to the bank's standards and customer risk ranking methodology. A key aspect of this role is performing onboarding Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) for applicable customers, encompassing the completion of Onboarding High Risk EDD Reviews and ongoing Periodic Reviews to maintain up-to-date risk profiles.
- • **Collaboration and Communication:** Success in this role hinges on effective collaboration. You will work closely with various departments, including business units, Compliance, Legal, and Third Party Risk Management, to seamlessly integrate Due Diligence and Enhanced Due Diligence efforts into the broader compliance framework. Furthermore, you will be responsible for communicating effectively with external law enforcement agencies, regulators, and other relevant entities, acting as a key point of contact when necessary.
- • You will foster a strong collaborative relationship with the Bank's BSA Officer, AML Operations team, Due Diligence Advisory colleagues, and the Chief Compliance Officer, working together to continuously improve overall KYC program execution and effectiveness.
- • **Continuous Improvement:** Staying ahead of the curve is paramount. You will be expected to remain current with evolving AML laws, regulations, and industry best practices. Proactively identifying opportunities for process improvement and implementing enhancements to the KYC program will be a core function, ensuring Column maintains a leading-edge compliance posture.
- • **Reporting and Governance:** You will provide essential support to the BSA Officer in generating Key Risk Indicator (KRI) and Key Performance Indicator (KPI) reports related to Due Diligence and Enhanced Due Diligence operations. Developing and communicating ongoing customer risk information to both internal and external stakeholders will be crucial. You will also be responsible for highlighting key trends, risks, issues, and opportunities for enhancements within the KYC program, contributing to strategic decision-making and program evolution.
- • This role offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of financial crime compliance at a rapidly growing, innovative fintech company. You will be at the forefront of building and scaling a best-in-class banking infrastructure, directly impacting the growth and success of our clients.
