  • • As a Cybersecurity Engineer III at Banner Health, you will play a pivotal role in safeguarding one of the nation's leading healthcare providers against evolving digital threats. This position is integral to the IT Network Services department, focusing on the planning, implementation, management, monitoring, and upgrading of robust security measures designed to protect the organization's sensitive data, critical systems, and extensive networks.
  • • You will be at the forefront of defending against both insider and outsider threats, ensuring that appropriate security controls are enabled and actively responding to any system or network security breaches. Your expertise will be crucial in maintaining the integrity and confidentiality of healthcare information, aligning with Banner Health's commitment to delivering the highest quality of care through advanced technology.
  • • This role demands a proactive approach to investigating and remediating cybersecurity incidents. You will be responsible for escalating incidents as defined by established procedures and collaborating closely with other IT teams to ensure swift and effective response and remediation efforts.
  • • As a Cybersecurity Engineer III, you are expected to be an innovator and a Subject Matter Expert (SME), contributing significantly to the design and architecture of our cybersecurity infrastructure. You will also be instrumental in driving major cybersecurity projects to successful completion within the Banner Health team.
  • • Your responsibilities will extend to leading the design, development, configuration, implementation, tuning, and maintenance of cybersecurity solutions. This includes addressing technical and business issues related to threat and vulnerability management, identity management, security operations center (SOC) functions, forensics, and data protection.
  • • You will collaborate with Cybersecurity Architects to execute strategic cyber initiatives, meticulously evaluate the security components of the network, applications, and end-user devices, and provide essential guidance to ensure that new systems meet stringent regulatory and technical standards.
  • • A key aspect of this role involves leading root-cause analysis on cyber systems to identify opportunities for improvement following any failures or incidents. You will work closely with other IT organizations to guarantee that cyber products are functioning optimally and integrating seamlessly with non-cyber environments, including applications, networks, end-user devices, and servers.
  • • You will proactively initiate the design and implementation of cybersecurity solutions, upgrades, and enhancements, always with a forward-looking perspective of three to five years. This includes anticipating future threats and developing scalable defense mechanisms.
  • • Providing technical expertise and support for cybersecurity solutions, including the operational aspects of the software, is a core function. You will serve as a subject matter expert in the design, implementation, and compliance of secure baseline configurations for both applications and infrastructure components.
  • • You will proactively initiate technical assessments of systems and applications to ensure adherence to all relevant policies, standards, and regulations. This includes staying abreast of evolving compliance mandates.
  • • A significant contribution will be the authorship of new cybersecurity standards and procedures, as well as leading the revision of existing policies, standards, and procedures to maintain a robust and up-to-date security framework.
  • • As a technical leader for cybersecurity projects, you will be responsible for developing project scope requirements, contributing to budgeting, creating work breakdown structures, and overseeing operational handoffs.
  • • You will identify emerging threats and develop suitable defense measures, evaluate system changes for their security implications, and recommend enhancements. This includes researching and drafting cybersecurity white papers and providing first-class support to cybersecurity operations staff for resolving complex cybersecurity issues.
  • • Operating with limited direction, you will be a self-starter responsible for cybersecurity across multiple departments system-wide. This requires interaction at all levels of staff and management, and close collaboration with cross-functional IT teams. You will lead work through indirect leadership across other cyber resources, articulating complex security functions into easily understandable business terms.
  • • The role involves independent judgment, critical decision-making, and excellent analytical skills. You must be able to think quickly under difficult or complex conditions and clearly communicate with appropriate staff. Balancing project workloads with customer support and on-call demands is essential.
  • • You will mentor less experienced team members, sharing your deep knowledge of information technology and information security principles and practices. Excellent communication and presentation skills are required to engage both technical and non-technical audiences effectively across various facilities and levels.
  • • This position offers the opportunity to work remotely within specific states, with typical hours from Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM AZ time, and may include on-call duties. You will be part of an organization recognized for its innovation and commitment to excellent patient care.
