Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Join Red Hat’s award-winning Data & AI team in Bangalore and help us re-imagine how the world’s leading open-source company runs on data. As a Data & AI Software Engineering Intern you will sit at the intersection of research-grade machine learning and production-grade engineering, working on real products that power Red Hat’s global business. Every line of code you write, every model you train, and every insight you surface will directly influence how millions of users experience open-source software.
- • From day one you will be paired with a senior mentor who will guide you through the full lifecycle of AI product development—from framing the business problem and curating datasets, to building scalable pipelines, to deploying containerized models on Red Hat OpenShift clusters. You will collaborate with data scientists, platform engineers, and product managers across the U.S., EMEA, and APAC time zones, learning how to translate cutting-edge research into hardened, enterprise-ready solutions.
- • Your core mission is to accelerate Red Hat’s digital-first transformation. You will design and implement machine-learning micro-services that predict customer adoption, optimize cloud spend, and detect anomalies in real time. You will leverage open-source frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, Kubeflow, and Apache Kafka to build end-to-end MLOps workflows that are reproducible, observable, and secure. Expect to write clean, idiomatic Python and Golang, craft efficient SQL and NoSQL queries, and create RESTful and gRPC APIs that expose model predictions to downstream applications.
- • You will also contribute to our internal feature store and data catalog, ensuring that data lineage, quality, and governance are baked into every artifact. Through rigorous A/B testing and statistical analysis you will measure model impact and iterate rapidly based on feedback from stakeholders. You will present findings to senior leadership in monthly “AI Demo Days,” sharpening your storytelling skills and influencing product roadmaps.
- • Beyond code, you will participate in Red Hat’s vibrant open-source culture. You will attend upstream community meetings, submit pull requests to projects like Open Data Hub and TrustyAI, and document your work in blogs and conference talks. Whether you are optimizing GPU utilization with KubeVirt or experimenting with confidential computing for secure AI workloads, you will be encouraged to innovate fearlessly and share knowledge generously.
- • The internship runs full-time from January to July 2026, giving you seven immersive months to grow from promising student to confident engineer. You will receive continuous feedback through weekly 1:1s, quarterly performance checkpoints, and a formal capstone presentation judged by VPs and Distinguished Engineers. Many of our previous interns have returned as full-time associates, patent co-inventors, or technical leads—your trajectory is limited only by your curiosity and drive.
- • Finally, you will experience Red Hat’s commitment to inclusion and social impact. You will join Employee Resource Communities, mentor high-school students in STEM workshops, and use AI for good initiatives that address sustainability and accessibility challenges. By the end of the program you will not only have shipped production-grade software—you will have become part of a global movement to make open source the default choice for enterprise innovation.
