đź“‹ Description

  • • As Column's inaugural Data Analytics Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in architecting and implementing the foundational data infrastructure that will empower our organization to operate, monitor, and strategically grow. This is a unique opportunity to shape how a rapidly scaling fintech company leverages data from its inception.
  • • You will be instrumental in modeling and maintaining our core datasets, ensuring they are accurate, accessible, and serve as a reliable source of truth for the entire company. This involves designing and implementing robust data models that can evolve with our business needs.
  • • A key responsibility will be the creation of trusted, insightful dashboards and reporting tools. These will empower various teams, including Engineering, Solutions Engineering, Design, Finance, Risk, Compliance, and Operations, to access critical data and make informed, data-driven decisions independently.
  • • Beyond fulfilling specific data requests, you will act as a strategic thought partner to leadership across the organization. This proactive engagement involves identifying key business questions, uncovering opportunities for data-driven improvement, and taking ownership of impactful projects from conception through to successful execution.
  • • We are seeking an individual with a high degree of agency – a self-starter and builder who thrives on independence. You will be expected to push projects forward autonomously, collaborate effectively across functions without needing explicit permission, and demonstrate enthusiasm for tackling complex challenges within regulated domains.
  • • This role reports directly to the CEO, underscoring its strategic importance and visibility within the company. You will be an integral part of our engineering team, contributing to both technical excellence and business strategy.
  • • You will be responsible for building tools specifically designed for internal users, enabling self-service analytics for critical business functions. This includes empowering teams like Finance, Risk, Compliance, and Operations with the data they need to perform their roles effectively and efficiently.
  • • Ownership of data models and the overall data warehouse architecture is a core component of this role. You will ensure that our data infrastructure is scalable, efficient, and aligned with the needs of our core banking systems and future growth.
  • • Maintaining the highest standards of data quality, implementing robust data observability practices, and ensuring strict adherence to regulatory compliance, including maintaining clear audit trails, will be paramount.
  • • You will be tasked with defining and championing best practices for analytics engineering, scalable reporting, and data governance across the company, setting the standard for data utilization.
  • • This role offers the chance to work at the forefront of financial technology, helping to build a next-generation banking infrastructure. You will contribute to a mission-driven company that is simplifying the complex world of financial services for builders and developers.
  • • You will collaborate closely with engineering teams to integrate data pipelines and ensure the integrity of data flowing from our core banking systems. This requires a deep understanding of data flow and transformation processes.
  • • Partnering with Solutions Engineering and Design teams will be crucial to translate business requirements into actionable data solutions and user-friendly reporting interfaces.
  • • You will contribute to the development of a data-centric culture, fostering an environment where data is valued, understood, and utilized to drive strategic decisions at all levels of the organization.
  • • The opportunity to build and scale data products from the ground up in a fast-paced, high-growth environment is a significant aspect of this role.
  • • You will be a key player in ensuring our data practices meet the stringent requirements of a regulated financial services industry, contributing to the safety, transparency, and efficiency of our operations.

🎯 Requirements

  • • 4-10 years of experience in a data-focused role such as Analytics Engineer, Data Analyst, Data Scientist, or Software Engineer, with a preference for experience in high-growth startups or fintech environments.
  • • Advanced proficiency in SQL for complex data manipulation and analysis, coupled with strong Python skills for scripting, automation, and data processing. Emphasis on writing clean, maintainable, and efficient code.
  • • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain robust data models and data warehouse architectures, ensuring scalability and performance.
  • • Experience in building and deploying self-service analytics tools, dashboards, and reports that empower business users.
  • • Familiarity with data governance principles, data privacy best practices, and security considerations within regulated industries.
  • • Strong product intuition and a proven track record of building pragmatic, user-centric, and scalable data solutions.
