Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • As a Data Engineer at Arlo Technologies, you will build and maintain the data pipelines that power AI-driven underwriting and pricing for small business health insurance, ensuring clean, timely, and trustworthy data flows that directly impact care delivery and cost efficiency.
- • Day to day, you will design and implement ingestion pipelines for heterogeneous data sources (TPA feeds, carrier data, claims, eligibility), develop dbt models for transformation, orchestrate workflows using Dagster or Airflow, monitor data quality and observability, and collaborate with data science teams to build feature pipelines and feedback loops for underwriting models.
- • Arlo is a profitable, fast-growing health insurance innovator backed by top-tier VCs, operating at scale with hundreds of millions in premiums and tens of thousands of members, using AI to rebuild health insurance from first principles by eliminating waste, fraud, and inefficiencies in the system.
- • In this role, you will deepen your expertise in end-to-end data engineering, gain hands-on experience with healthcare data complexities, strengthen your ability to work cross-functionally with data science and underwriting teams, and directly contribute to an AI-powered system that improves access to affordable care.
🎯 Requirements
- • 3–5 years in a data engineering or backend engineering role with significant data pipeline ownership
- • Proficiency in Python and SQL; comfortable writing production-quality code in both
- • Hands-on experience with pipeline orchestration tools (Dagster, Airflow, Prefect, or similar)
- • Experience with dbt or equivalent transformation frameworks
- • Familiarity with cloud data environments (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and columnar/analytical databases
- • Track record working with messy, real-world datasets and building systems that handle inconsistency gracefully
🏖️ Benefits
- • High ownership: real responsibility from day one on a high-trust team that empowers you to shape core parts of the company
- • Join an important mission: your work directly influences how people access care and improves lives at scale
- • Growth & expansion: scope grows with the company—new challenges, bigger opportunities, and rapid career velocity
- • Apply AI to a problem that matters: use AI to reimagine healthcare access instead of optimizing ads or cutting labor costs
- • High pace, high collaboration: operate with velocity, first-principles thinking, and a team that works closely, openly, and with ambition
