  • • Design and build Cape’s data platform from the ground up, including the data warehouse, query layer, and pipeline orchestration, with privacy as a first-class requirement.
  • • Establish privacy-preserving patterns and practices in collaboration with engineering teams to ensure all data systems uphold Cape’s privacy guarantees to customers.
  • • Enable product, operations, and leadership teams with self-serve analytics through dashboards, metrics, and reports that answer critical business questions without compromising user privacy.
  • • Set and enforce data engineering standards including pipeline conventions, testing protocols, documentation practices, and operational rigor aligned with the same standards applied to Cape’s telecom infrastructure.
  • • Own the end-to-end development of data pipelines that ingest, transform, and serve analytics data while adhering to data minimization, access control, and identifier management principles.
  • • Work closely with cross-functional stakeholders across engineering, product, and business teams to translate analytical needs into scalable, privacy-compliant data solutions.
  • • Build and maintain data models optimized for analytics workloads using SQL and modern data warehousing technologies.
  • • Implement and manage ETL/ELT workflows using industry-standard orchestration tools to ensure reliable, timely, and auditable data flows.
  • • Contribute to the culture of data excellence by promoting best practices in data governance, lineage tracking, and quality assurance across the organization.
  • • Ensure all data infrastructure designs align with Cape’s mission of making privacy a fundamental right, not an afterthought, by embedding privacy controls into every stage of the data lifecycle.
  • • Collaborate with security and compliance teams to maintain adherence to regulatory and operational privacy requirements across consumer, business, and government data use cases.
  • • Continuously evaluate and improve the scalability, performance, and security of the data platform as Cape scales rapidly post-Series C funding.
  • • Document all data systems, processes, and decisions to ensure knowledge sharing and long-term maintainability across the engineering organization.

🎯 Requirements

  • • 4+ years of professional data engineering or software engineering experience with meaningful time building data pipelines and warehouses
  • • Strong SQL and data modeling skills, with experience designing schemas for analytics workloads
  • • Fluency in Python, Go, or another backend language
  • • Hands-on experience with a cloud data warehouse such as Snowflake, BigQuery, MongoDB, or Redshift
  • • Familiarity with ETL/ELT frameworks and workflow orchestration tools
  • • A solid understanding of privacy-preserving data practices including access control, data minimization, and identifier management
