Data Engineer

📋 Description

• • Design, implement, test, and maintain scalable, high-performance, and highly available ETL pipelines for law enforcement clients in a secure, cloud-based environment.
• • Collaborate with Agile teams to deliver data solutions within two-week sprints, ensuring alignment with client requirements and project milestones.
• • Build and optimize complex SQL queries and advanced data models to support analytics and mission-critical systems.
• • Develop and manage large-volume data pipelines using big data technologies, including Apache Spark, and enforce data governance standards.
• • Implement and maintain backend services integrated with REST, SOAP, or GraphQL APIs to support data interoperability across systems.
• • Utilize AWS services including S3, RDS, EC2, and Lambda to construct and scale cloud-native data solutions.
• • Diagnose and resolve complex system and data issues impacting pipeline performance, data integrity, and system availability.
• • Work directly with customers and internal teams to refine data requirements, translate business needs into technical specifications, and deliver tailored analytics solutions.
• • Support DevSecOps pipelines through automated deployments using tools such as Jenkins, Ansible, Terraform, and Vault.
• • Lead cross-functional engineering efforts, mentor junior engineers, and communicate technical insights clearly to senior leadership and non-technical stakeholders.
• • Drive continuous improvement in data quality, pipeline efficiency, and system reliability by setting technical benchmarks and making independent, high-impact architectural decisions.
• • Provide strategic consulting to clients, leading key interactions and advancing best practices in data engineering and secure data handling.
• • Operate in a Linux environment (RHEL preferred), utilizing shell scripting to automate tasks and manage system-level operations.
• • Process and mediate JSON data formats across heterogeneous data sources to ensure consistency and accuracy in downstream analytics.
• • Maintain compliance with security protocols and operational requirements in a high-security government environment.
• • Work onsite in Crystal City, VA, 2–4 days per week to support client collaboration and team integration.
