Data Engineer

📋 Description

• • Architect and own the next generation of Health-E Commerce’s data platform, designing scalable, cloud-native pipelines that ingest, transform, and serve terabytes of e-commerce, marketing, finance, and product data to every corner of the organization.
• • Build and harden end-to-end ETL/ELT workflows using modern tools such as Airflow, dbt, Snowflake, and AWS services (S3, Glue, Lambda, Redshift, EMR), ensuring 99.9 % uptime and sub-minute latency for critical business dashboards.
• • Partner with Analytics Engineers to translate complex business questions into elegant data models that power self-service BI in Looker, Tableau, and Mode, reducing time-to-insight from days to minutes.
• • Collaborate with Data Scientists to productionize machine-learning features, deploying real-time scoring pipelines that personalize customer experiences and optimize lifetime value across FSAStore.com and our family of brands.
• • Establish and evangelize data-quality frameworks, automated testing, and CI/CD best practices so that every dataset is trusted, discoverable, and governed by clear SLAs and ownership.
• • Optimize storage and compute costs through intelligent partitioning, incremental loads, and rightsizing, saving the company six-figure sums annually while keeping performance best-in-class.
• • Serve as the go-to technical mentor for junior engineers, leading design reviews, brown-bag sessions, and pair-programming that level-up the entire Data & Analytics team.
• • Work directly with Marketing, Sales, Finance, and Product leadership to prioritize roadmap items, translating strategic goals into sprint-level deliverables that move revenue, margin, and customer-satisfaction KPIs.
• • Champion data-security and privacy standards (SOC 2, HIPAA, GDPR) by implementing encryption, role-based access controls, and audit logging that exceed regulatory requirements.
• • Continuously evaluate emerging technologies—lake-house architectures, stream processing, data-contracts—and run proof-of-concepts that keep Health-E Commerce two steps ahead of the market.
• • Own on-call rotation for the data platform, responding to incidents with calm precision, documenting post-mortems, and turning every outage into a learning opportunity.
• • Contribute to the open-source community and internal guilds, speaking at meet-ups and writing blog posts that position Health-E Commerce as a thought leader in data engineering excellence.
