📋 Description
- • Join Elliptic Enterprises Limited as a Data Engineer on our innovative Data Fabric team and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of blockchain intelligence. Elliptic is at the forefront of building the intelligence layer for the evolving financial landscape, transforming complex blockchain data into actionable insights. Our Data Fabric is the unified data platform that empowers financial institutions, regulators, and businesses globally to navigate the digital asset space with confidence, making digital-asset intelligence seamlessly accessible.
- • In this role, you will be instrumental in designing, building, and optimizing robust systems capable of processing vast, large-scale blockchain and off-chain datasets. Your work will directly enable organizations worldwide to make critical, data-driven decisions with trust and precision. You will tackle challenging problems across both batch and streaming data paradigms, developing solutions that are agnostic to specific blockchain technologies and solving intricate data-processing puzzles to illuminate the flow of value within the crypto ecosystem.
- • Your core responsibilities will involve the construction and meticulous maintenance of distributed data pipelines, leveraging powerful technologies such as Scala, Spark, and cutting-edge cloud platforms. You will be a key collaborator, working closely with a diverse group of talented engineers, insightful data scientists, and forward-thinking product teams to ensure the delivery of data systems that are not only reliable but also highly scalable and performant.
- • A significant part of your contribution will be in designing and optimizing data ingestion and transformation workflows. This includes handling the complexities of both on-chain and off-chain data, ensuring the accuracy, scalability, and efficiency of systems that process hundreds of millions of data points daily. You will be expected to critically evaluate design options, carefully weighing the trade-offs between scalability, performance, reliability, and cost to arrive at the most effective solutions.
- • You will be involved in the entire lifecycle of data platform development, from initial design and architecture through to deployment and ongoing continuous improvement. This holistic approach ensures that our data infrastructure remains state-of-the-art and meets the evolving needs of our clients and the market.
- • A crucial aspect of your role will be to strengthen the reliability, observability, and automation of our data pipelines. This will involve implementing improvements through code, developing new tooling, and enhancing existing systems to ensure maximum uptime and efficiency. As you deepen your understanding of our complex distributed systems, you will have the opportunity to grow your influence within the team and take on increasing levels of responsibility, contributing to strategic technical decisions.
- • We are looking for individuals who are passionate about writing clean, well-tested, and efficient code, and who understand the power of data and experimentation in making informed decisions. You will thrive in a collaborative, open culture where the sharing of knowledge and constructive feedback are integral to our daily work. A genuine curiosity about new technologies, particularly how AI and automation can be leveraged to optimize data engineering processes, is highly valued. We foster an environment that champions autonomy, provides dedicated mentoring, and supports continuous personal development, allowing you to excel both professionally and personally.
- • The technical environment you will be working in includes Scala, Spark, Databricks, AWS, Airflow, Kubernetes, and Terraform, with a strong emphasis on functional programming principles. While experience with Scala is advantageous, we are eager to support experienced data engineers who demonstrate a strong aptitude and eagerness to learn this technology. Your contributions will directly impact the quality and accessibility of blockchain data, enabling a more transparent and secure digital asset ecosystem.
🎯 Requirements
- • Several years of experience (typically around 3–5 years) in data engineering or big data systems, with a proven track record of delivering and maintaining distributed data pipelines.
- • Practical knowledge of big data processing frameworks such as Spark, Databricks, or similar, and familiarity with cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
- • Understanding of data architecture trade-offs, including scalability, resilience, and observability, and the ability to evaluate design options and their implications.
- • Interest or experience in functional programming principles and practices, and a passion for writing clean, well-tested, and efficient code.
🏖️ Benefits
- • Hybrid working model with the flexibility to work remotely from almost anywhere for up to 90 days per year, supported by a £500 remote working budget.
- • A generous £1,000 annual Learning & Development budget to support your professional growth and development, agreed upon with your manager.
- • Comprehensive vacation package including 25 days of annual leave, bank holidays, an extra day for your birthday, and enhanced parental leave (16 weeks fully paid).
- • Excellent health and wellness benefits including Private Health Insurance (Vitality), full access to Spill Mental Health Support, and Life Assurance cover (4 times your salary).
- • Unique perks such as £100 in Crypto upon joining and a Cycle to Work Scheme.
