📋 Description

• Lead Airwallex’s AI Analytics & CEO Office team as the primary data advisor to the CEO, CFO, and Regional Business Leads, translating complex data landscapes into actionable executive strategies that shape global growth priorities.
• Own and scale Airwallex’s global forecasting engine by developing and maintaining sophisticated statistical models that integrate top-down and bottom-up inputs to drive annual planning, capital allocation, and strategic decision-making across the organization.
• Design and implement causal inference frameworks to quantify the impact of macroeconomic shifts (e.g., interest rates, currency fluctuations, regulatory changes) and internal initiatives on cross-border payment volumes, customer acquisition, and revenue streams.
• Drive the AI strategy roadmap by identifying, prioritizing, and deploying Generative AI and machine learning applications to automate business intelligence, optimize reporting workflows, and create proprietary data products that enhance decision-making speed and accuracy.
• Build, lead, and scale a high-performing team of data scientists and engineers, including talent acquisition, performance management, career development, and fostering a culture of technical excellence, critical thinking, and end-to-end ownership.
• Collaborate with cross-functional leadership to define key business metrics, establish data governance standards, and ensure alignment between analytics outputs and corporate strategic objectives.
• Productionalize advanced forecasting, causal modeling, and ML systems in a live environment using modern data stack tools including SQL, Python, Databricks, Snowflake, dbt, and Airflow, ensuring scalability, reliability, and reproducibility.
• Transform complex model outputs into clear, compelling narratives for C-suite and VP-level stakeholders, translating technical findings into strategic recommendations with measurable business impact.
• Establish best practices for AI-driven automation in business intelligence, including agentic workflows that reduce manual reporting, surface anomalies, and proactively alert leadership to emerging trends or risks.
• Work directly with global teams across 26 offices to understand regional nuances in transactional data and integrate localized insights into the company-wide forecasting and strategic planning model.
• Serve as the authoritative source of truth for macroeconomic and operational performance metrics, ensuring leadership decisions are grounded in rigorous, real-time, and validated data.
• Champion innovation by experimenting with emerging AI techniques and evaluating their applicability to Airwallex’s global payments ecosystem, balancing speed of execution with methodological rigor.
• Influence organizational priorities by identifying high-leverage opportunities where data and AI can unlock new growth levers, reduce operational friction, or improve financial forecasting precision.
• Maintain deep technical fluency — regularly reviewing Databricks notebooks, dbt models, and statistical code — while simultaneously operating at the strategic level with executive stakeholders.
• Define and evolve the team’s mission, culture, and operating principles in alignment with Airwallex’s broader organizational values and commitment to founder-like energy and ownership.

🎯 Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in data science, analytics, or applied ML, including 5+ years leading high-performing technical teams at scale in top-tier tech, fintech, or growth-driven businesses
• Deep expertise in causal inference, time-series forecasting, and applied machine learning, with hands-on experience building and deploying production models
• Expert-level proficiency in SQL, Python, and modern data stack tools (Databricks, Snowflake, dbt, Airflow)
• Demonstrated experience working directly with C-suite executives to influence corporate strategy using data-driven insights
• Proven track record of productionalizing Generative AI applications or agentic workflows to automate business intelligence and reporting
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Economics, Engineering) or equivalent practical experience
