  • • As a Data Scientist on Spotify's Subscriptions Portfolio team, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Spotify’s paid offerings by transforming complex subscriber data into strategic insights that drive growth, retention, and innovation across global markets.
  • • Your work will directly influence how Spotify evolves its subscription plans, pricing strategies, and value propositions to attract new users and deepen engagement with existing subscribers, making your contributions central to the company’s revenue and user experience objectives.
  • • You will analyze large-scale behavioral and transactional data to uncover patterns in subscriber acquisition, churn, plan adoption, and feature usage, applying statistical modeling and experimentation to measure the impact of product changes and pricing tests.
  • • You will design and execute A/B tests and quasi-experimental studies to evaluate the performance of new subscription tiers, promotional offers, and bundling strategies, ensuring rigorous causal inference and actionable recommendations for product and finance stakeholders.
  • • You will build predictive models to forecast subscriber lifetime value, upgrade/downgrade propensity, and price sensitivity, enabling proactive decision-making around plan evolution and targeted marketing initiatives.
  • • You will collaborate closely with product managers, UX researchers, finance analysts, and engineering partners to translate data findings into product roadmap updates, go-to-market strategies, and executive-level business reviews.
  • • You will develop and maintain dashboards and automated reporting systems that track key subscription health metrics (e.g., ARPU, conversion rates, retention curves) across regions and user segments, ensuring transparency and alignment across the Subscriptions Mission.
  • • You will mentor junior analysts and promote best practices in statistical rigor, reproducible research, and data storytelling, fostering a culture of evidence-based decision-making within the Portfolio Data Science team.
  • • You will operate within a fast-paced, innovative environment at Spotify, where data science is deeply integrated into product strategy, and your insights will help shape how hundreds of millions of users experience music and audio globally.
  • • You will have the opportunity to grow your expertise in consumer behavior analytics, pricing science, and product experimentation while contributing to one of the world’s most influential subscription businesses.

🎯 Requirements

  • • Advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) in a quantitative field such as Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, or a related discipline.
  • • 3+ years of experience applying statistical modeling, machine learning, or causal inference techniques to solve business problems in consumer tech, e-commerce, or subscription-based industries.
  • • Proficiency in Python or R for data analysis, including experience with libraries such as pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn, statsmodels, or tidyverse.
  • • Strong SQL skills for extracting and manipulating large datasets from data warehouses (e.g., Snowflake, BigQuery, or Redshift).
  • • Proven ability to design, analyze, and interpret A/B tests and field experiments, with familiarity in causal inference methods like regression discontinuity, difference-in-differences, or propensity score matching.
  • • Excellent communication skills, with demonstrated experience presenting complex analytical findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including product leaders and executives.

🏖️ Benefits

  • • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance plans, including mental health resources and wellness programs.
  • • Generous paid time off, including vacation, sick leave, and company holidays, plus parental leave policies that support work-life balance.
  • • Access to Spotify’s global learning and development budget, enabling employees to pursue courses, certifications, and conferences relevant to their growth.
  • • Employee discount on Spotify Premium and other company products, plus occasional access to exclusive music events and artist experiences.
  • • Hybrid work flexibility with options for remote collaboration and in-office engagement at Spotify’s New York headquarters.
  • • Retirement savings plans with company matching, financial planning resources, and long-term incentive opportunities tied to company performance.
