- • Own and operate AWS Aurora (PostgreSQL) in a high-load production environment processing millions of financial transactions monthly
- • Design and evolve database schemas for large transactional domains including payments, customers, subscriptions, and event data
- • Implement and maintain table partitioning strategies using time-based, tenant-based, and hybrid approaches
- • Design and manage advanced indexing strategies including B-Tree, GIN, and partial indexes to optimize query performance
- • Analyze and tune slow queries, execution plans, and database metrics to ensure predictable performance at scale
- • Resolve production issues including lock contention, vacuum/autovacuum failures, connection pool saturation, and long-running inefficient queries
- • Proactively prevent performance regressions as data volume grows beyond hundreds of millions of rows
- • Design high-performance search solutions for internal CRM tools using operational datasets, balancing flexibility, correctness, and speed
- • Determine appropriate data placement between transactional databases and analytical stores (e.g., ClickHouse, Tinybird)
- • Work with event and log data pipelines to enable real-time insights for product, finance, and operations teams
- • Ensure data integrity and consistency in financial workflows with strict reliability requirements
- • Define and monitor key database health metrics including latency, replication lag, storage usage, and IOPS
- • Plan and execute safe schema changes and migrations on large tables with minimal downtime
- • Participate in incident analysis related to database performance, availability, or data consistency
- • Implement and maintain backup, replication, and disaster-recovery strategies for mission-critical financial data
- • Collaborate closely with backend engineers and product teams to align data infrastructure with transactional and analytical needs
- • Support internal tooling requiring fast search and analytics capabilities derived from payment and customer data
- • Operate within a fully remote, high-talent engineering organization focused on ownership, technical excellence, and pragmatic decision-making
🎯 Requirements
- • Strong hands-on experience with PostgreSQL in production environments
- • Experience managing large databases with hundreds of millions of rows or more
- • Solid understanding of indexing strategies, query planners, execution paths, transactions, isolation levels, and locking mechanisms
- • Experience working with AWS-based infrastructure, ideally AWS Aurora
- • Ability to independently investigate and resolve complex database performance issues
