- • As a Dental Assistant at the University of Rochester’s EIOH Community Dentistry department, you will play a vital role in supporting dental providers to deliver high-quality patient care in a clinical or operating room setting, directly contributing to the institution’s mission of Meliora – Ever Better through equity, integrity, and respect.
- • Day to day, you will assist dentists and providers chair-side using four-handed techniques, maintain sterile environments, prepare and clean operatories, manage instrument sterilization and inventory, take and process radiographs, escort patients, complete laboratory work like pouring models and making bite guards, support QA initiatives, and assist with training and research activities as needed.
- • You will be part of the University of Rochester’s EIOH Community Dentistry team (Department 920710), a clinically focused unit dedicated to serving the community through dental education, patient care, and research, operating under the university’s broader commitment to inclusivity, safety, and excellence in healthcare.
- • In this role, you will develop advanced clinical dental assisting skills, gain experience with radiographic equipment and infection control protocols, strengthen your ability to anticipate clinical needs, and grow into a trusted support role — with potential to take on managerial duties in the absence of a Lead Dental Assistant.
🎯 Requirements
- • High School diploma or equivalent (current high school students in good standing accepted)
- • 1 year of experience as a Dental Assistant or in an Operating Room environment (preferred)
- • Valid work permit upon hire (required)
- • Knowledge of dental terminology, procedures, and basic computer experience (preferred)
- • Ability to maintain sterile technique, use four-handed dentistry, and operate dental equipment including vacuum evacuators and radiography tools
