📋 Description

• Support the global coordination of a commercial fleet, ensuring vessel availability and operational continuity across international ports and hubs including Marseille, Le Havre, Hamburg, and Singapore.
• Oversee the maintenance and operational condition of vessels, ensuring full compliance with technical standards and class requirements.
• Act as the owner’s representative onboard and ashore, safeguarding the owner’s interests in all technical and operational matters.
• Contribute to the strategic transition of fleet oversight from external providers to in-house teams, reducing reliance on third-party services where feasible.
• Apply and enforce standardized shipping business processes and operational tools across the entire fleet.
• Provide superintendent-level technical support and follow-up to vessels operating from major maritime hubs.
• Coordinate with external service providers while progressively strengthening internal control and pilotage over fleet operations.
• Drive the adoption of operational best practices and contribute to the continuous improvement of fleet management systems within a global maritime organization.
• Work closely with technical, operational, and onboard teams to maintain vessel reliability, regulatory compliance, and readiness for service.
• Operate with high autonomy in a fully international environment, making independent, business-critical decisions under dynamic global conditions.
• Ensure alignment between shore-based fleet management and vessel-level execution across a fleet of approximately 100 vessels supported by roughly one engineer per four vessels.
• Maintain awareness of industry standards and regulatory frameworks governing maritime technical operations and vessel maintenance.
• Participate in the development and implementation of internal procedures to enhance oversight, accountability, and efficiency in fleet operations.
• Represent the organization in communications with classification societies, port authorities, and external technical vendors.
• Monitor vessel performance metrics and maintenance schedules to prevent unplanned downtime and ensure optimal asset utilization.
• Support the integration of in-house expertise into previously outsourced functions, building internal capacity for long-term fleet control.

🎯 Requirements

• Significant experience in the shipping industry, specifically in technical or operational fleet roles
• Seagoing/onboard experience is indispensable
• Solid understanding of fleet operations and the owner model
• Strong command of shipping business processes and operational tools
• High operational autonomy and the ability to make sound decisions independently
• Demonstrated ability to represent the owner in technical and operational matters
