• • Renterra is seeking a highly skilled and versatile Design Engineer to join our dynamic team in Chicago. As a Series A–backed SaaS company, we are revolutionizing the $100B+ equipment rental industry by building the definitive operating system for its complex operations. Our platform tackles intricate, data-intensive workflows spanning logistics, operations, and billing – challenges that demand exceptional design thinking and robust engineering prowess.
• • In this pivotal role, you will be the driving force behind our product's user experience and interface. This is not a passive position; you will own the end-to-end product design process, from initial concept and problem framing through to the delivery of polished, functional UI within our React and Material UI codebase. You will be instrumental in shaping the visual language and interactive elements of our B2B SaaS product, ensuring it is both powerful and intuitive for our users.
• • Your responsibilities will extend beyond traditional design. You will be expected to prototype rapidly and effectively, leveraging your preferred tools – be it Figma, AI-powered design assistants, direct coding, or even a quick sketch on a napkin. The emphasis is on finding the most efficient path to a high-quality solution. You will also play a key role in the evolution and maintenance of our Material UI-based design system, contributing to both its visual representation in design tools and its implementation in code.
• • A significant aspect of this role involves hands-on contribution to our React frontend. This means going beyond minor adjustments; you will be building new components, meticulously refining layouts, and polishing user interactions to deliver a seamless and engaging experience. You will have the opportunity to prototype innovative ideas outside the established design system, and then, if successful, integrate these learnings back into our codified system, ensuring consistency and scalability.
