Full Job Description
đ Description
- ⢠Design and implement end-to-end features for Ashbyâs product, combining visual design expertise with full-stack engineering skills to deliver high-impact user experiences.
- ⢠Redesign and enhance the companyâs in-house design system, creating composable, scalable components used across the product by both Design Engineers and Product Engineers.
- ⢠Collaborate directly with product teams to improve information hierarchy, scannability, and usability of interfacesâsuch as candidate assessment viewsâbased on real user feedback and internal usage patterns.
- ⢠Ship iterative product changes to over 100,000 weekly active users, leveraging rapid feedback loops from Ashbyâs own recruiting team and customers like Notion, Linear, Shopify, and Snowflake.
- ⢠Own the full lifecycle of design and development for features: from researching customer problems and wireframing solutions, to writing product specs, implementing code, and iterating based on live usage data.
- ⢠Consult with Product Engineers to elevate the visual and functional quality of their designs, ensuring consistency with Ashbyâs design language and usability standards.
- ⢠Build and refine mobile web experiences by translating user insights into functional, pixel-perfect interfaces using modern frontend technologies.
- ⢠Contribute to AI-powered tooling initiatives that automate code reviews, prototype ideas, and triage customer issues, using an unlimited token budget for internal AI tools.
- ⢠Work in a minimal-process environment where engineers drive project direction, make product decisions, and communicate outcomes proactively without heavy oversight or rigid sprint structures.
- ⢠Participate in biannual in-person team retreats and receive a budget to meet with colleagues in your region, fostering collaboration across distributed teams.
- ⢠Maintain a high bar for visual design taste and execution, pushing the boundaries of Ashbyâs UI/UX with each new feature or redesign.
- ⢠Avoid perfectionism in favor of shipping fast and iterating based on user feedback; prioritize learning through real-world usage over extensive pre-launch research.
- ⢠Engage in pair programming, collaborative design system specification writing, and live design/technical interviews as part of the hiring processâno LeetCode or whiteboard tests.
- ⢠Onboard rapidly: set up your dev environment with a single script, push your first product change on day one, and progressively take ownership of increasingly complex features.
- ⢠Receive continuous feedback through structured 30-, 60-, and 90-day reviews with your manager and a peer buddy who supports your integration and growth.
đŻ Requirements
- ⢠Proven experience in both visual/UI/UX design and software engineering, with a portfolio showcasing shipped products or features to real users.
- ⢠Proficiency in TypeScript, React, and CSS; backend experience with Node.js, GraphQL, or Postgres is a strong plus.
- ⢠Demonstrated ability to design and implement features end-to-end, from wireframes to production code, with a focus on usability and aesthetic quality.
đď¸ Benefits
- ⢠Competitive salary and equity with a 10-year window to exercise stock options.
- ⢠Unlimited PTO with encouragement to take time off.
- ⢠12+ weeks of fully paid parental leave, with adjustments for international employees to meet regional standards.
- ⢠100% covered top-tier health insurance for employees and dependents (US) or equivalent high-quality supplemental coverage internationally.
- ⢠$100/month education budget and manager-approved funding for conferences or advanced learning.
- ⢠Generous equipment, software, and office furniture stipend to ensure a productive and comfortable work setup.
