• • Own the backbone of a trillion-dollar revolution. As Senior DevOps Engineer at Canals, you will architect and operate the AWS infrastructure that powers an AI platform already handling millions in annual revenue and growing fast. Your systems will move physical goods across continents—every millisecond of latency you shave off and every deployment you automate translates into real-world efficiency for global supply chains.
• • Design, build, and continuously evolve cloud infrastructure on AWS (ECS, Lambda, RDS, S3, CloudWatch, IAM) that scales horizontally with our customer base and data volume. You’ll start with today’s multi-million-dollar ARR load and design for 10× growth without downtime or drama.
• • Modernize and harden CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions (or CircleCI) so that every engineer can ship features multiple times per day with confidence. You’ll introduce blue-green and canary strategies, automated rollbacks, and zero-downtime migrations that keep our customers’ operations running 24/7.
• • Automate everything that can be automated. Use Terraform and Ansible to turn infrastructure provisioning, configuration drift detection, and secret rotation into one-click, auditable processes. Your code will be the single source of truth for environments from dev to production.
• • Build world-class observability. Stand up Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog—or the best mix for our stack—to give engineers real-time insight into latency, error budgets, and cost per transaction. You’ll define SLIs/SLOs and own the on-call rotation that keeps us below our error budget every quarter.
• • Strengthen security end-to-end. Harden IAM policies, lock down VPCs, enforce least-privilege secrets management, and automate compliance checks so that SOC 2 and ISO audits become a non-event. You’ll partner with backend teams to bake security into every pull request.
• • Optimize performance and cost. Profile containerized services running on ECS/Fargate, right-size RDS instances, and leverage Lambda for burst workloads so we deliver AI inference at the lowest possible cost per prediction.
• • Champion reliability culture. Run game-day chaos drills, post-incident reviews, and blameless retros that turn outages into learning moments. Your runbooks and dashboards will become the gold standard for operational excellence across our 35-person engineering org.
• • Collaborate asynchronously across North and South America. You’ll document decisions in Notion, pair in Slack huddles, and demo improvements in weekly engineering showcases. Your influence will ripple through product, data science, and customer success teams.
• • Leave a legacy. Because we’re bootstrapped and profitable, every line of code you ship has immediate business impact—no investor pivot can erase your roadmap. You’ll help define what “DevOps at Canals” means for the next 100 engineers we hire.
