• • Join Fundraise Up as a DevOps Engineer / SRE and play a pivotal role in ensuring the scalability, security, and exceptional reliability of our global fundraising platform. This is a unique opportunity to operate as a generalist, impacting our entire infrastructure from server provisioning and CI/CD pipelines to observability and database management. Your work will directly contribute to our mission of making donating to nonprofits fast, seamless, and accessible, ensuring that even minutes of downtime, which are costly for the causes we support, are avoided.
• • You will be responsible for managing and maintaining our server infrastructure, encompassing both Virtual Machines (VMs) and bare metal systems. This includes deep dives into OS-level configuration, ongoing maintenance, and proactive troubleshooting to ensure optimal performance and stability.
• • A core aspect of your role will be the automation of infrastructure and routine operational tasks. You will leverage tools like Ansible and develop custom scripts in Bash or Python to streamline processes, reduce manual effort, and enhance efficiency across the engineering team.
• • You will be instrumental in building, maintaining, and supporting our complex CI/CD pipelines. We utilize scripted pipelines in Jenkins, and your expertise will be crucial in ensuring smooth, reliable, and efficient software delivery processes.
• • Developing and supporting our monitoring and observability stack is a key responsibility. This involves working with Prometheus-style metrics, VictoriaMetrics, Grafana, and Graylog to gain deep insights into system performance, identify potential issues, and ensure proactive problem resolution.
• • You will engage with our databases and data systems, including ClickHouse and MongoDB, with a strong focus on monitoring their health and ensuring operational stability. Your contributions will be vital in maintaining the integrity and performance of our data infrastructure.
• • A significant part of your role will involve investigating and resolving complex issues that span across Linux OS, networking, and application layers. This requires a systematic approach to problem-solving and a broad understanding of our technology stack.
• • You will collaborate closely with engineers across various teams, fostering a culture of shared responsibility and continuous improvement. Your input will be essential in enhancing system reliability and driving further automation initiatives.
• • Taking ownership of production systems is paramount. You will be responsible for ensuring the stability, predictability, and overall health of our live environment, acting as a guardian of our platform's performance and availability.
• • Fundraise Up is a global fundraising platform trusted by leading nonprofits like UNICEF and the Alzheimer’s Association, processing tens of millions of dollars in donations monthly. Our platform is recognized for its innovation, focusing on speed, conversion rates, global payment support, and accessibility.
• • We operate an enterprise-level product ecosystem, including a modern checkout experience, customizable widgets (SPAs), donor, organization, and partner portals, admin tools, and internal applications. This complex environment is powered by Node.js (Koa, NestJS) and MongoDB on the backend, with a frontend stack including Webpack, Vue.js, and React, predominantly using TypeScript.
• • For high-throughput messaging and background processing, we rely on Kafka for millions of events and Bull (Redis). Our analytics data is stored in ClickHouse, and we utilize Elasticsearch for search capabilities.
• • You will be joining a distributed team of over 120 product professionals, including more than 35 engineers, primarily based in Spain, Poland, Portugal, Georgia, Armenia, Serbia, Turkey, and Cyprus. Many of our developers bring 5-10+ years of experience, contributing to a culture rich in technical curiosity and knowledge sharing.
