đź“‹ Description

  • • Join Fundraise Up as a DevOps Engineer / SRE and play a pivotal role in ensuring the scalability, security, and exceptional reliability of our global fundraising platform. This is a unique opportunity to operate as a generalist with broad impact, touching every aspect of our infrastructure, from server provisioning and CI/CD pipelines to observability and database management. Your work will directly contribute to our mission of making donating to nonprofits fast, seamless, and accessible, powering tens of millions of dollars in donations each month for leading organizations like UNICEF and the Alzheimer’s Association.
  • • You will be instrumental in maintaining and enhancing our robust product ecosystem, which includes a modern checkout experience, customizable widgets (SPAs), donor, organization, and partner portals, administrative tools, and several internal applications. Our technology stack is modern and diverse, featuring Node.js (Koa, NestJS) and MongoDB for the backend, Webpack, Vue.js, and React for the frontend, with a strong emphasis on TypeScript. For high-throughput messaging and background processing, we leverage Kafka and Bull (Redis), while ClickHouse stores our analytics data and Elasticsearch powers our search capabilities.
  • • Your responsibilities will span a wide range of critical infrastructure areas. You will work directly with servers, both virtual machines and bare metal, managing their configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting at the operating system level and below. Automation is key to our operations, so you will be expected to automate infrastructure tasks and routine operational processes using tools like Ansible and custom scripting in Bash or Python.
  • • A significant part of your role will involve building, maintaining, and supporting our complex CI/CD pipelines, which are currently implemented using scripted pipelines in Jenkins. You will also be responsible for developing and supporting our comprehensive monitoring and observability stack, which includes Prometheus-style metrics, VictoriaMetrics, Grafana, and Graylog, ensuring we have deep insights into system performance and health.
  • • You will engage with our databases and data systems, including ClickHouse and MongoDB, with a primary focus on maintaining their operational stability and ensuring efficient performance. Investigating and resolving complex issues across the Linux OS, networking, and application layers will be a regular part of your duties. This requires a deep understanding of how all components interact and the ability to diagnose problems effectively.
  • • Collaboration is central to our success. You will work closely with engineers across various teams to enhance system reliability and implement further automation. Taking ownership of production systems is paramount; you will be responsible for ensuring the stability and predictability of our day-to-day operations, understanding that even brief downtime can have significant consequences for the non-profits we serve.
  • • This role offers the chance to work within a distributed, highly skilled team of 120+ product professionals, including over 35 engineers. Our team members are located across Europe, fostering a culture of deep technical curiosity, knowledge sharing, and mutual respect. We operate with a product mindset, valuing thoughtful collaboration and strong engineering practices. You will benefit from bi-weekly engineering forums where learnings are shared and technical achievements are celebrated, all within a flat structure that prioritizes great work over bureaucracy.
  • • We are looking for a proactive individual who thrives in a fast-paced, data-rich environment and possesses a high sense of ownership and attention to detail. You will contribute to a company that is recognized for its product quality (4.9/5 rating on review platforms) and its significant impact on the non-profit sector. If you are passionate about building reliable, scalable systems that support a meaningful cause, this is the role for you.

🎯 Requirements

  • • 4+ years of experience as a DevOps Engineer, SRE, or Linux Systems Administrator.
  • • Strong foundation in Linux (Ubuntu), including core CLI troubleshooting tools.
  • • Solid experience with configuration management tools, particularly Ansible.
  • • Proficiency in building and maintaining complex CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins experience is a major plus).
  • • Experience with monitoring and observability principles (Prometheus/VictoriaMetrics stack preferred).
  • • Scripting ability in Bash or Python.

🏖️ Benefits

  • • 31 days off
  • • 100% paid telemedicine plan
  • • Home Office Setup Assistance (furniture, monitor, etc.)
  • • English learning courses
  • • Relevant professional education
  • • Gym or swimming pool membership
  • • Co-working space access
  • • Remote working (CET hours preferred)
