Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Own the reliability heartbeat of Plane’s Cloud and Self-Hosted Kubernetes estates. You will be the first line of defense when 25 k+ teams worldwide hit snags spinning up Plane on EKS, GKE, or their own bare-metal clusters. Every ticket you close directly preserves the “it just works” reputation that vaulted us to #1 on GitHub.
- • Provide Tier-2 technical support across Discord and GitHub, turning frustrated users into raving fans within hours, not days. You’ll reproduce exotic edge-cases, craft minimal reproduction repos, and ship precise work-arounds or patches while the community watches in real time.
- • Monitor, triage, and resolve deployment, scaling, and performance anomalies in production. From pod-crash loops in Jakarta to Helm-chart drift in Frankfurt, you’ll wield kubectl, stern, and k9s like extensions of your own hands to restore SLOs before breakfast.
- • Design and execute end-to-end test plans for every infrastructure change. Spin up ephemeral KinD clusters, run chaos-monkey load spikes, validate blue-green rollbacks, and gate releases with automated Prometheus/Grafana dashboards that scream green before any merge hits main.
- • Build bullet-proof runbooks and internal knowledge base articles that turn tribal infra lore into self-service gold. Your docs will be the difference between a 3 a.m. page and a junior engineer fixing it solo with confidence.
- • Partner with backend, frontend, and security squads to bake reliability, observability, and compliance into new features from day one. You’ll sit in architecture reviews asking “how will we support this at 3× scale?” and leave with Jira tickets already groomed.
- • Participate in a humane on-call rotation (one week in six) backed by PagerDuty, runbooks, and a blameless post-mortem culture. When the alert fires, you’ll join a war-room that feels more like a puzzle party than a panic room.
- • Champion open-source ethos by upstreaming fixes, answering Discourse threads, and starring in our monthly “Office Hours” livestream where you debug real user clusters in front of hundreds of viewers.
- • Continuously automate yourself out of repetitive tasks. Whether it’s a Python script that snapshots and restores Postgres to a new namespace or a Bash one-liner that auto-labels noisy GitHub issues, you’ll ship code that makes tomorrow easier than today.
- • Contribute to SOC 2 and ISO 27001 compliance workflows—translating auditor questions into Terraform rules and evidence packs—so enterprise buyers can trust Plane with their most sensitive data.
🎯 Requirements
- • 3–5 years of hands-on experience supporting production-grade Kubernetes and Docker environments
- • Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure issues reported via Discord or GitHub with crystal-clear written communication
- • Strong scripting chops in Python, Bash, or Go for automation and quick-fix tooling
- • Experience with AWS or GCP, plus Terraform, Prometheus, and Grafana
- • Nice-to-have: open-source contributions, SOC 2/ISO compliance exposure, familiarity with React, Rust, Postgres, or Next.js
🏖️ Benefits
- • Work 100 % remote with flexible hours and a culture that trusts you to deliver, not to punch a clock
- • Join a revenue-positive, OSS Capital-backed startup ranked #1 in its GitHub category with rocket-ship growth
- • Collaborate with ex-Microsoft, Deloitte, Nutanix, and Yahoo! alumni in a tight-knit 50-person team where every commit matters
