- • Amgen is seeking a Digital Product Manager to join the AI & Data Lab Product Management Team, a critical role focused on rapidly validating high-potential AI and data-driven business opportunities before significant investment. This position is instrumental in guiding Amgen's strategic decisions regarding which AI initiatives should be scaled, refined, paused, or redirected, ensuring that the company invests wisely in cutting-edge technologies to serve patients with serious illnesses. The role operates at the crucial intersection of business strategy, AI product discovery, data readiness, technical feasibility, experimentation, and enterprise transformation, aiming to drive innovation and efficiency across the organization.
- • In this dynamic role, you will be responsible for identifying, framing, and validating AI-enabled business opportunities across Amgen. This involves translating broad transformation themes into clear problem statements, testable hypotheses, defined user needs, specific data requirements, measurable success metrics, and comprehensive validation plans. A key aspect of your day-to-day will be evaluating whether proposed AI opportunities possess the necessary data foundations, robust system integrations, appropriate architecture patterns, advanced model capabilities, stringent security controls, and adequate operational support to transition from concept to a scalable, enterprise-ready solution. You will collaborate closely with a diverse team of experts, including data scientists, machine learning engineers, data engineers, software engineers, solution architects, platform teams, and cybersecurity partners. This collaboration is essential for shaping innovative solution concepts, understanding complex technical tradeoffs, and proactively identifying dependencies throughout the validation process. Furthermore, you will design and execute rapid discovery sprints, prototypes, pilots, user research studies, and controlled experiments to rigorously assess the desirability, feasibility, viability, value, and inherent risks associated with AI initiatives. The insights gained from this evidence-based approach will directly inform decisions on whether opportunities should advance, pivot, pause, or scale. You will also assess the potential impact of emerging technologies such as Large Language Models (LLMs), AI agents, sophisticated machine learning models, Natural Language Processing (NLP), automation, knowledge retrieval systems, advanced analytics, and intelligent workflow tools on improving productivity, enhancing decision quality, accelerating scientific discovery, optimizing operational efficiency, and boosting overall workforce effectiveness. Developing detailed product requirements will be a core responsibility, ensuring these requirements encompass user experience considerations, data availability, model performance benchmarks, output quality standards, explainability needs, reliability metrics, latency targets, integration requirements, governance frameworks, and ongoing measurement strategies. You will synthesize all findings from validation work into clear, actionable product recommendations, comprehensive opportunity briefs, thorough technical feasibility assessments, compelling business cases, and executive-ready narratives, empowering leaders to make informed investment decisions. Maintaining a dynamic portfolio of AI opportunity experiments across various stages of discovery, prototyping, piloting, and scale-readiness will be crucial, requiring diligent tracking of progress, risks, assumptions, gathered evidence, data dependencies, architectural implications, and key decision points. Ensuring that validation efforts proactively consider responsible AI principles, data privacy regulations, model risk management, cybersecurity best practices, compliance mandates, regulatory requirements, human oversight mechanisms, effective change management strategies, and enterprise scalability from the very inception of discovery is paramount. You will also facilitate critical workshops, discovery sessions, prioritization discussions, technical feasibility reviews, user experience design activities, process mapping exercises, and decision forums, effectively communicating complex AI and data concepts in a clear, business-oriented manner suitable for senior leaders and non-technical stakeholders.
