📋 Description

• Lead the end-to-end engineering strategy and execution for Hims & Hers’ commerce platform, encompassing catalog, pricing, promotions, payments, and checkout systems that power all customer transactions.
• Serve as the single engineering DRI for commerce, owning technical vision, architecture, and delivery across all core commerce domains with accountability for reliability, scalability, and uptime.
• Drive the transition to a rich, durable catalog domain model and evolve the platform toward an AI-first engineering culture with spec-driven development practices.
• Champion clear domain boundaries and enforce integration via APIs and published events, eliminating direct cross-domain database access to improve system maintainability and security.
• Define and deliver a multi-year engineering roadmap that balances innovation, technical debt reduction, scalability, and quality across high-throughput commerce systems.
• Oversee platform architecture for scalability, security, and compliance, with heightened rigor for payments and financially sensitive transactions handling clinical and health-related data.
• Partner with product, design, data, finance, pharmacy, care, and operations teams to align commerce systems with business goals, optimizing conversion, retention, and customer trust.
• Mentor and develop engineering managers and leaders, focusing on succession planning, leadership growth, and building a strong technical bench to support organizational scaling.
• Own staffing and organizational strategy, including headcount planning, team structuring, and hiring to match the evolving needs of the commerce domain.
• Represent engineering in executive and cross-functional forums, translating technical trade-offs, status updates, and strategic priorities to senior stakeholders to influence business decisions.
• Drive alignment across engineering squads to deliver key initiatives while managing competing priorities between speed, quality, and long-term platform health.
• Collaborate with data and analytics teams to enhance pricing, promotion, and checkout experiences using data-driven insights that increase conversion and customer retention.
• Scale systems with long-term growth in mind, championing evolutionary architecture to ensure the platform remains adaptable as product surface area and customer volume expand.
• Integrate third-party APIs and data sources including labs, wearables, and fulfillment systems to support seamless end-to-end customer experiences.
• Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement within engineering teams focused on building user-centric, data-driven health experiences.

🎯 Requirements

• 12+ years of experience in software engineering, with 5+ years leading multiple teams or organizations in high-growth environments
• Proven success leading cross-functional product engineering teams and owning end-to-end consumer experiences
• Strong technical background with understanding of modern web and service architectures (Node.js, GraphQL, React, TypeScript, AWS, Kubernetes)
• Experience building scalable, secure, and compliant systems handling clinical or health-related data
• Experience integrating third-party data sources, APIs, and device platforms (labs, wearables, fulfillment)
• Demonstrated ability to recruit, develop, and retain high-performing engineering talent
