📋 Description
- • The Director, Investment Consulting role at Manulife Investment Management is a senior, advisor-facing position focused on strengthening portfolio discipline, improving risk management, and enhancing advisor communication across Quebec and Atlantic Canada.
- • Day to day, the person will lead one-on-one investment consulting engagements, analyze advisor portfolios for structural weaknesses, translate findings into practical recommendations, equip advisors with client-ready portfolio narratives, and build referral relationships with wholesalers to generate consulting opportunities.
- • The role sits within Manulife’s Montreal-based Investment Consulting team, partnering closely with wholesalers, investment specialists, and distribution colleagues to extend the reach of a differentiated support offering that bridges portfolio theory and advisor reality.
- • In this role, the person can deepen expertise in behavioural coaching and portfolio consulting, influence advisor business outcomes through tailored engagement, and grow as a trusted consultant at the intersection of investment analysis, relationship management, and business development within a leading global financial services organization.
🎯 Requirements
- • CFA, CIM, or comparable advanced investment designation strongly preferred; CAIA, CIMA, or FRM considered strong assets
- • 5+ years of experience in investment consulting, portfolio analytics, asset management, or a related investment-focused role
- • Deep understanding of modern portfolio theory, asset allocation, risk management, and fixed income across major asset classes
- • Strong working knowledge of mutual funds, ETFs, SMAs, model portfolios, and alternative investments
- • Proven ability to convert portfolio analytics into clear, actionable recommendations
- • Exceptional communication, facilitation, and relationship-building skills
- • High proficiency in Excel; experience with Morningstar, YCharts, Jacobi/Second Engine, or similar tools considered an asset
- • Fully bilingual (French/English): required to communicate in both languages to support clients across jurisdictions
- • University degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or a related field
