  • • Lead the strategic vision and execution for mechanical engineering design and development within Vantage Data Centers' North American operations, driving innovation and ensuring alignment with corporate objectives and industry best practices.
  • • Oversee the entire lifecycle of mechanical systems for new data center projects, from initial concept and site assessment through detailed design, construction documentation, and commissioning, ensuring all designs meet stringent requirements for reliability, efficiency, and sustainability.
  • • Manage and mentor a high-performing team of mechanical engineering Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), fostering a culture of technical excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement, while effectively managing team workload and priorities.
  • • Collaborate extensively with cross-functional teams including Construction, Mission Critical Operations, Market Development, and Sales, as well as external stakeholders such as consultants, vendors, and contractors, to ensure seamless project delivery and integrated solutions.
  • • Act as a key technical advisor to senior leadership, providing critical insights and recommendations on emerging technologies, design methodologies, and industry trends to maintain Vantage's competitive advantage and enhance enterprise value.
  • • Drive the evaluation and adoption of new technologies and design innovations, ensuring that Vantage's data center infrastructure remains at the forefront of the industry and meets the evolving needs of hyperscale customers and large enterprises.
  • • Develop and refine design standards and processes, incorporating lessons learned from completed projects and industry benchmarks to promote operational excellence and added value across the portfolio.
  • • Provide expert technical support to the sales and marketing departments, assisting in client interactions and ensuring that proposed solutions align with technical capabilities and strategic goals.
  • • Ensure rigorous Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) processes are implemented and maintained for all mechanical design and engineering deliverables, guaranteeing compliance with specifications, codes, and lease agreements.
  • • Manage the qualification and selection of consultants and vendors, making informed recommendations for technology adoption and deployment to optimize project outcomes.
  • • Represent Vantage Data Centers in industry forums and maintain strong engagement with the broader data center engineering community to stay abreast of the latest trends, challenges, and opportunities.
  • • Oversee the development and management of team learning and onboarding content, promoting transparency and effective two-way communication throughout the organization.
  • • Exercise independent judgment and decision-making authority in managing complex engineering activities, balancing technical requirements, budget constraints, and business priorities to achieve optimal results.
  • • Ensure that all new and existing data center spaces are designed and engineered to meet or exceed applicable requirements, including Basis of Design (BOD), specifications, codes, and lease agreements, while continuously seeking opportunities for innovation and value engineering.
  • • Provide essential technical support to site operations teams, addressing any issues that arise once critical infrastructure is operational and ensuring long-term reliability and performance.
  • • Stay current with all relevant building codes and ordinances, including ASHRAE standards, and ensure designs comply with all applicable regulations.
  • • Utilize engineering analysis tools such as PipeFlow, 6Sigma CFD software, and other relevant platforms to perform complex calculations and simulations, informing design decisions and validating performance.
  • • Proficiently use AutoCAD, Revit, BIM, and Navisworks software environments to develop, review, and manage design documentation and models.
