- • The Director, Medical Portfolio Lead - Pain US is a strategic HQ-based Medical Affairs role that serves as the scientific interface between Viatris and the external medical community, ensuring the safe and effective use of Viatris medicines through independent medical strategy and evidence generation.
- • Day to day, the role involves developing overarching medical strategy with commercial colleagues, defining independent medical objectives and tactics, generating and publishing real-world evidence, reviewing promotional materials, engaging with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) and patient organizations, presenting at scientific congresses, leading Medical Review Committee (MRC) activities, and providing internal training on products and disease states.
- • Viatris is a global healthcare company that bridges generics and brands to deliver high-quality medicines to approximately 1 billion patients annually, with a mission to empower healthier living across all life stages, recognized on multiple award lists for its impact.
- • In this role, the individual will deepen expertise in pain management, lead independent medical strategic planning, strengthen Viatris’ clinical positioning versus competitors, influence formulary decisions through scientific engagement, and contribute to evidence-based medical communications that support patient access and therapeutic advancement.
🎯 Requirements
- • Minimum of 8 years of experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, or clinical industry
- • Advanced degree (MD) highly preferred; experience in pain management required
- • Knowledge of US Pain MPL responsibilities, clinical trials, SOPs, promotional laws (PhRMA, ACCME), and Code of Business Conduct and Ethics
- • Ability to communicate effectively with KOLs, academic institutions, and patient advocacy groups; strong analytic and organizational skills for interpreting and presenting clinical data
- • Proficiency in English (speaking, comprehending, reading, writing); willingness to travel 50%-80% of time, including overnight and weekend stays
