Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Lead the charge in expanding Forbes Advisor’s legal vertical into the most authoritative and profitable destination for consumers seeking legal guidance. You will own the P&L for this high-growth business unit, translating market insights into a multi-year roadmap that triples revenue within three years while preserving the trust our 100M+ annual readers place in us.
- • Architect and execute end-to-end partnership strategies with bar associations, legal-tech SaaS providers, lead-gen networks, and premier law firms. You will negotiate complex, high-value contracts—often seven figures—balancing aggressive growth targets with strict compliance to ABA advertising rules and state bar ethics opinions.
- • Build, mentor, and scale a distributed business-development pod of 5-8 quota-carrying managers and 2-3 strategic analysts. You will institute OKRs, comp plans, and weekly pipeline reviews that turn raw ambition into predictable, data-driven performance without sacrificing Forbes’ collaborative culture.
- • Own the entire funnel—from top-of-funnel awareness campaigns co-marketed with legal influencers to bottom-of-funnel conversion optimization on our comparison tables. You will partner daily with SEO, editorial, product, and data science to ensure every new partner integration lifts organic rankings, improves user experience, and drives incremental revenue.
- • Translate consumer intent data into new revenue products. Example: launch a subscription-based “Ask a Lawyer” marketplace, a dynamic RFP engine matching SMBs to vetted attorneys, or an embedded insurance upsell for law practices. You will run lean experiments, measure LTV/CAC, and scale winners into eight-figure lines of business.
- • Serve as the external face of Forbes Advisor at LegalTech, ABA TECHSHOW, and state bar conventions. You will keynote panels, host roundtables, and cultivate a personal brand that opens doors to C-suite decision-makers at AmLaw 200 firms and venture-backed legal disruptors.
- • Champion compliance and brand safety. You will draft policy playbooks that keep us ahead of evolving attorney-advertising regulations, partner with legal counsel to review every new contract clause, and instill a culture where ethics amplify—not hinder—growth.
- • Leverage our proprietary intent and behavioral datasets to identify whitespace opportunities—e.g., surging demand for cannabis licensing, immigration, or IP services—and spin up verticalized microsites or newsletters that capture that demand before competitors notice.
- • Collaborate cross-functionally to redesign user journeys. You will translate attorney feedback into product specs, A/B test new comparison widgets, and iterate until both consumers and partners rave about the experience.
- • Report directly to the GM of Forbes Marketplace; present quarterly board-level updates on revenue, margin, NPS, and regulatory risk. Your insights will shape enterprise-wide investment decisions across personal finance, home services, and insurance verticals.
🎯 Requirements
- • 10+ years of business development or partnerships experience in legal, SaaS, or high-growth digital marketplaces, with at least 3 years in a leadership role owning a P&L north of $25M.
- • Demonstrated track record of closing and managing strategic partnerships with law firms, legal tech vendors, or bar associations resulting in ≥$5M annual recurring revenue.
- • Deep fluency in attorney advertising rules (ABA Model Rule 7.2, state bar ethics opinions) and comfort translating regulatory constraints into scalable go-to-market strategies.
- • Proven ability to build, lead, and inspire high-performing distributed teams; experience setting comp structures, forecasting pipelines, and hitting aggressive growth targets.
- • Exceptional executive presence and communication skills—comfortable presenting to boards, keynoting conferences, and negotiating seven-figure deals with C-suite stakeholders.
🏖️ Benefits
- • Fully remote-first culture with quarterly, all-expenses-paid team summits in destinations like Lisbon, Austin, or Mexico City to strategize, celebrate wins, and recharge.
- • Competitive base salary plus uncapped commission and equity in a profitable, fast-growing business unit backed by Forbes’ 100-year brand legacy.
- • Annual $5,000 professional-development stipend—use it for law-bar CLE credits, executive coaching, or attending any global conference that sharpens your edge.
