- • The Director of Business Development, US Navy at Motorola Solutions is a strategic leadership role responsible for driving long-term horizon scanning and opportunity shaping for multi-year US Navy defense programs, ensuring Silvus Technologies’ advanced tactical communications solutions are positioned as critical components in national security initiatives.
- • This role directly contributes to Motorola Solutions’ mission of building a safer future by securing large-scale, complex DoD programs that enhance tactical connectivity for military operations, leveraging Silvus’ MN-MIMO technology to enable secure, reliable, high-bandwidth mesh networks in extreme environments.
- • Day-to-day responsibilities include owning and driving the end-to-end capture process for large-scale, multi-year US Navy programs, from initial identification and qualification through proposal development, submission, and award execution.
- • The role requires identifying, cultivating, and maintaining deep, influential relationships with all key buying influences — including Program Offices (PEOs/PMs), prime contractors, OEM partners, and end-user communities — to shape technical requirements and align Silvus’ solutions with mission-critical Navy capability needs.
- • The Director will proactively collaborate with customers and partners to influence technical requirements for long-term programs, ensuring Silvus’ MN-MIMO technology is embedded as a foundational element in future naval communications architectures.
- • Managing the full lifecycle of strategic pursuits is central to the role, involving horizon scanning, opportunity qualification, competitive analysis, teaming strategy development, whitepaper and proposal authoring, RFI/RFP response leadership, and strategic positioning to win complex, long-cycle DoD Programs of Record.
- • Close cross-functional collaboration with the Market Development Executive (MDE) ensures alignment between high-level corporate strategy and tactical capture efforts, while coordination with Account Sales teams facilitates seamless transition of captured programs into near-term execution phases.
- • Continuous market intelligence gathering is required to monitor competitor activities, evolving funding priorities, and emerging technology trends within the US Navy and broader DoD landscape to inform adaptive capture strategies.
- • Travel requirements of up to 50% are essential to engage directly with Navy stakeholders, attend program reviews, participate in industry events, and maintain visibility across geographically dispersed acquisition and operational communities.
- • The role demands a deep, practical understanding of US Navy organizational structure, acquisition processes (including PPBE, JCIDS, and Milestone decision points), capability development lifecycle, and DoD funding and procurement cycles to effectively navigate complex government sales environments.
- • Candidates will have the opportunity to lead high-impact, nationally significant pursuits that shape the future of military communications, develop executive-level influence within the DoD ecosystem, and contribute directly to Motorola Solutions’ growth in the defense sector through innovative technology adoption.
- • Success in this role offers the chance to build a legacy of capturing transformative defense programs, refine advanced business development and capture management expertise, and work at the intersection of cutting-edge technology and national security mission outcomes.

- • Demonstrated experience building relationships within US Navy Acquisition offices and with relevant prime contractors.
- • Experience leading all phases of business capture (whitepapers, proposals, RFI/RFP response, teaming, strategic positioning).
- • Practical understanding of product development, technology transitioning, and marketing/product planning for US military applications.
