📋 Description

• As Director of Engineering for the Data Platform at Vectra AI, you will lead the teams responsible for ingesting, processing, storing, and analyzing petabytes of security telemetry daily, forming the technical foundation for AI-driven threat detection and response across hybrid and multi-cloud environments.
• You will build, grow, and mentor high-performing engineering teams across multiple geographies, develop engineering managers and senior technical leaders through coaching and sponsorship, and foster an inclusive culture rooted in trust, ownership, and accountability to enable distributed teams to do their best work.
• You will align engineering priorities with Product, Security Research, AI, Infrastructure, and Customer teams, communicate platform strategy and risks to executive leadership, partner with customer-facing teams to understand evolving data needs, and influence company-wide direction around data, AI, and platform capabilities.
• You will drive execution and operational excellence by leading large-scale platform initiatives, setting engineering best practices for data processing and reliability, owning production operations and incident management, and ensuring predictable delivery with clear visibility to customer impact and long-term platform health.
• You will engage deeply on architecture decisions for scalable, AI-ready infrastructure, champion a platform-first mindset with self-service APIs and developer tooling, drive adoption of modern capabilities like feature stores and vector storage, and champion the use of AI to improve engineering productivity, software delivery, and incident response.
• Your success will be measured by a trusted, widely adopted platform known for reliability and self-service, faster time-to-production for analytics and AI applications, reduced time from telemetry ingestion to model deployment, high-performing teams with strong leadership pipelines, and industry-leading infrastructure supporting autonomous security operations.
• This role matters because every detection, investigation, and AI-driven insight Vectra delivers runs on the platform you will lead — you will shape the technical and organizational direction of a critical cybersecurity platform protecting organizations worldwide from sophisticated threats.

🎯 Requirements

• 10+ years of software engineering experience, including 5+ years leading engineering organizations
• Proven track record building and operating large-scale data platforms in production
• Deep expertise across large-scale data infrastructure: distributed systems, data ingestion pipelines, stream and batch processing, and storage systems at scale including object stores, columnar databases, and time-series systems
• Experience with Databricks, including Spark-based processing and the Databricks platform ecosystem
• Experience running ML or AI workloads in production, including platforms, feature stores, or inference infrastructure
• Operational mindset: SRE principles, incident response, and a culture of reliability
