Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Own the end-to-end Engineering, Procurement & Construction (EPC) strategy for a multi-gigawatt portfolio of next-generation geothermal power plants across the western United States, translating Zanskar’s breakthrough exploration success into steel-in-the-ground reality.
- • Architect and continuously refine a repeatable, scalable EPC delivery model that compresses time-to-power, reduces capital intensity and sets a new industry benchmark for safety, quality and cost predictability in geothermal construction.
- • Lead cross-functional alignment sessions with resource, land, permitting, development and finance teams to lock scope, risk allocation and commercial terms before any shovel hits dirt, ensuring every contract reflects Zanskar’s long-term asset strategy.
- • Identify, qualify and secure long-lead, critical-path equipment (high-temperature wellheads, ORC turbines, heat exchangers, pad-mounted transformers) years ahead of notice-to-proceed, leveraging volume commitments across the portfolio to drive down unit costs and guarantee delivery slots.
- • Select, negotiate and manage FEED consultants, EPC contractors, drilling subcontractors and specialty suppliers, drafting and executing lump-sum, target-cost and alliance-style contracts that balance risk, innovation and speed.
- • Build and mentor a lean, high-impact EPC team—project managers, contract specialists, field engineers, cost controllers and safety leaders—instilling a culture of front-line leadership, transparent communication and relentless continuous improvement.
- • Establish and steward project budgets, cash-flow forecasts and contingency plans that withstand commodity volatility, regulatory surprises and force-majeure events while still hitting P50 cost targets required for financial close.
- • Drive on-site construction execution from groundbreaking through commissioning and performance testing, enforcing OSHA 1910/1926 standards, Zanskar’s zero-harm philosophy and contractual performance guarantees until hand-off to operations.
- • Create and maintain a living digital twin of every plant—integrating 3D models, procurement schedules, cost curves and risk registers—so that lessons learned from Plant #1 accelerate Plant #10.
- • Innovate construction methods and supply-chain logistics tailored to remote, high-temperature geothermal sites: modular skid packages, winterization strategies, helicopter-portable substations and local workforce development programs.
- • Serve as the executive escalation point for all EPC issues, presenting weekly dashboards to the CEO and Board that translate complex construction data into clear go/no-go decisions and capital re-allocation recommendations.
- • Champion diversity, equity and inclusion in every contractor RFP and site safety meeting, ensuring Zanskar’s projects become showcases for equitable access to high-paying clean-energy careers.
🎯 Requirements
- • 10+ years of progressive EPC delivery leadership at a mid- to large-scale EPC contractor or developer/owner, with at least five years accountable for budgets exceeding $100 million and multi-disciplinary teams.
- • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, Electrical or Petroleum Engineering; Professional Engineering (PE) license, MBA or PMP certification strongly preferred.
- • Demonstrated track record of negotiating and executing lump-sum, target-cost and/or alliance EPC contracts for power-generation or heavy-industrial projects, ideally geothermal, solar, wind, oil & gas or utility-scale battery storage.
- • Deep familiarity with long-lead procurement, critical-path scheduling (Primavera P6), cost control, risk management and safety leadership on remote, high-temperature or high-pressure construction sites.
- • Entrepreneurial mindset—proven ability to build new processes, tools and teams that improve cost, schedule and safety performance over successive project cycles.
🏖️ Benefits
- • Hybrid work flexibility based in Salt Lake City, Utah—world-class outdoor recreation at your doorstep and direct flights to every major western project site.
- • 18 days PTO plus paid holidays and paid parental leave, ensuring you recharge and stay connected to family.
- • Comprehensive medical, dental and vision coverage starting day one, plus 401(k) with company match to secure your long-term financial health.
- • Ground-floor equity in a rapidly scaling clean-tech startup, giving you a tangible stake in displacing gigatons of carbon emissions.
- • Annual professional-development stipend and clear pathways to VP-level advancement as the portfolio grows from gigawatts to tens of gigawatts.
