  • • Hauler Hero, a rapidly growing vertical SaaS company with embedded payments, is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Director of Finance to lead and build out its entire financial operations and strategic finance function. This is a pivotal role for a hands-on leader who thrives in a dynamic, high-growth environment and is eager to establish a robust, scalable, and accurate financial foundation. You will be instrumental in partnering with the CEO to drive strategic decision-making across planning, pricing, capital efficiency, and investor relations. This position offers a clear trajectory towards VP of Finance as the company continues its impressive scaling journey.
  • • As the Director of Finance, you will take ownership of critical financial areas, ensuring operational excellence and strategic alignment. Your responsibilities will span the full spectrum of financial management, from day-to-day operations to long-term strategic planning. This role demands a blend of meticulous attention to detail for tactical execution and a visionary perspective for strategic growth.
  • • **Financial Operations:** You will be responsible for the entire order-to-cash cycle, encompassing accurate invoicing, diligent collections, precise revenue recognition, and seamless payment reconciliation. A key part of this will be managing the monthly close process with utmost accuracy and timeliness, ensuring all financial statements are reliable. You will also oversee Accounts Payable, vendor payments, and implement stringent expense controls to maintain financial discipline. Ensuring compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) will be paramount, requiring close collaboration with external accountants and auditors. As transaction volume escalates, you will proactively build and refine scalable internal controls to safeguard the company's assets and financial integrity.
  • • **Customer Agreements & Revenue Integrity:** A significant aspect of your role will involve ensuring the integrity and accuracy of customer agreements and revenue streams. This includes managing the execution, secure storage, and version control of all customer contracts, such as Order Forms, Master Service Agreements (MSAs), renewals, and custom pricing agreements. You will maintain meticulously clean contract metadata, which will serve as the critical data source for billing systems, forecasting models, and renewal management. A proactive approach to auditing agreements and systems will be essential to identify and prevent any potential revenue leakage, ensuring that all earned revenue is captured and recognized appropriately.
  • • **Commissions & Sales Finance:** You will own the end-to-end process for commission calculations and payouts for all Go-To-Market (GTM) roles. This involves rigorously validating bookings, payment timing, and managing any necessary clawbacks or quota credit rules. Delivering clear, auditable commission statements to the sales team will be a key deliverable. Furthermore, you will collaborate closely with Sales leadership to inform and refine compensation plan designs, including the structure of ramps, accelerators, and Sales Performance Incentive Fund (SPIFF) programs, ensuring alignment with company objectives and sales performance.
  • • **Board & Investor Support:** A crucial part of your strategic contribution will be preparing monthly Key Performance Indicator (KPI) reporting and comprehensive quarterly board materials. You will partner directly with the CEO on critical areas such as runway management, ensuring the company is always prepared for potential fundraising activities, and developing compelling financial narratives for investors. Establishing a predictable, trusted financial operating cadence will be vital for providing leadership and the board with the insights they need for informed decision-making.
  • • **Strategic Finance & FP&A:** You will own and maintain the company's financial model, encompassing key drivers such as Annual Recurring Revenue (ARR), revenue growth, gross margins, headcount planning, and payments economics. Building sophisticated scenario analyses for critical business decisions, including hiring strategies, Go-To-Market initiatives, pricing adjustments, and fundraising scenarios, will be a core responsibility. You will meticulously track and analyze core SaaS and payments metrics, including ARR, Net Revenue Retention (NRR), Customer Acquisition Cost (CAC), Lifetime Value (LTV), Gross Merchandise Volume (GMV), and take rates. Your insights will directly support pricing, packaging, and product expansion decisions, providing clear financial justification and impact analysis.
  • • **Systems & Tooling:** You will take ownership of the entire finance technology stack, including accounting software, billing platforms, reconciliation tools, expense management systems, commission calculators, and forecasting software. A key initiative will be integrating these financial systems seamlessly with HubSpot and product data to ensure data consistency and efficiency. You will also manage key relationships with banks, payment providers, and other essential financial vendors, ensuring optimal service and cost-effectiveness.
  • • **Product Collaboration:** You will foster a strong partnership with the Product and Engineering teams to ensure the financial logic embedded within the Hauler Hero platform is sound and efficient. This includes collaborating on invoicing workflows, payment processing flows, reconciliation processes, and reporting mechanisms, ensuring they are robust, scalable, and meet financial requirements.
  • • **Cash & Capital Management:** Maintaining crystal-clear visibility into the company's cash position, runway, and near-term liquidity needs will be a top priority. You will explore and utilize low-risk investment instruments where appropriate to optimize cash yield. Providing simple, accurate, and timely reporting on cash and capital requirements will be essential for strategic planning and operational stability.
  • • **What Success Looks Like Within 12 Months:** Within your first year, key indicators of success will include billing, collections, and commission processes operating with accuracy and predictability, becoming 'boring' in their reliability. Leadership will have unwavering trust in the financial model to guide critical decision-making. Board materials will be consistently clean, accurate, and delivered proactively, eliminating last-minute 'fire drills.' Revenue leakage will be effectively eliminated, and the finance function will be recognized as a strategic partner, rather than solely a back-office operation. The CEO will be able to dedicate more time to strategic initiatives, leveraging financial insights rather than being bogged down in operational details.
