Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Architect and continuously evolve BMG Money’s new-account credit strategy for unsecured personal loans, translating market insights, regulatory guidance, and performance data into a living policy suite that balances growth, profitability, and responsible lending.
- • Own the end-to-end underwriting framework—from segmentation and decision logic to exposure limits, pricing tiers, and exception handling—ensuring every application is evaluated consistently, fairly, and profitably.
- • Design and execute a rigorous testing roadmap (A/B, champion-challenger, multivariate) to validate policy changes, pricing adjustments, and model enhancements; translate test results into actionable recommendations for executive and partner-bank stakeholders.
- • Build and maintain a risk-based pricing engine that dynamically assigns APRs, fees, and loan terms according to predicted risk, lifetime value, and competitive positioning while remaining compliant with state and federal regulations.
- • Serve as the primary liaison between Underwriting, Fraud Strategy, Decision Sciences, Engineering, Compliance, and external partner banks; translate complex credit requirements into clear technical specifications for deployment in BMG’s proprietary rules engine.
- • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (approval rates, early-default curves, vintage profitability, loss rates, customer lifetime value) and present monthly executive dashboards that spotlight trends, anomalies, and strategic opportunities.
- • Lead scenario planning and stress-testing exercises to quantify portfolio resilience under macroeconomic shocks (unemployment spikes, interest-rate shifts, regulatory changes) and recommend proactive policy levers.
- • Recruit, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of credit analysts, data scientists, and policy managers; foster a culture of analytical rigor, ethical lending, and continuous learning.
- • Partner with Legal and Compliance to interpret evolving regulations (MILA, MLA, FDCPA, state rate-cap statutes) and embed compliant controls into policy and pricing logic without compromising customer experience.
- • Collaborate with Product and Marketing to align underwriting gates with channel-specific acquisition strategies, ensuring that pre-qualification flows, direct-mail campaigns, and employer-channel programs are supported by appropriate risk filters.
- • Drive cross-functional initiatives to reduce friction for creditworthy borrowers—streamlining document verification, leveraging alternative data, and automating manual review queues—while maintaining fraud safeguards.
- • Champion a data-driven culture by institutionalizing experiment design, causal inference, and advanced analytics (survival models, uplift modeling, gradient boosting) within the underwriting organization.
- • Present quarterly strategic reviews to the Board and partner banks, articulating portfolio performance, policy evolution, competitive benchmarking, and forward-looking credit outlook.
- • Continuously scan the fintech landscape for emerging underwriting technologies (open-banking data, cash-flow analytics, machine-learning explainability tools) and pilot integrations that enhance predictive power and inclusivity.
- • Ensure all credit policies are thoroughly documented, version-controlled, and accessible to auditors, regulators, and internal stakeholders; maintain a living policy library that supports rapid iteration and transparent governance.
