Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Own the end-to-end payments strategy for a portfolio of 20+ enterprise software companies that collectively process billions in annual transaction volume across North America, Europe, and APAC.
- • Architect and execute a unified payments roadmap that modernizes legacy billing engines, introduces embedded-finance revenue streams, and reduces churn through friction-free checkout experiences for customers in healthcare, logistics, construction, and public-sector verticals.
- • Lead cross-functional squads of product managers, engineers, risk analysts, and finance leaders to launch new payment methods (ACH, RTP, wallets, BNPL) while ensuring PCI-DSS Level 1 compliance and SOX-ready controls across all subsidiaries.
- • Negotiate and manage relationships with 15+ payment gateways, processors, and banking partners to secure industry-leading interchange rates, fraud guarantees, and settlement terms that directly improve EBITDA margins by 2–4 percentage points.
- • Build a global payments intelligence engine that surfaces real-time KPIs on authorization rates, chargeback ratios, and customer lifetime value; use these insights to A/B-test pricing models and dunning workflows that recover an additional $5–10 M in annual recurring revenue.
- • Serve as the executive sponsor for M&A diligence on payments infrastructure, identifying hidden liabilities, revenue leakage, and upsell opportunities in target companies valued between $10 M and $100 M.
- • Champion a culture of security-first innovation by instituting quarterly red-team exercises, tokenization standards, and zero-trust architecture that keeps customer PII and cardholder data out of scope for audits.
- • Mentor and scale a distributed team of 8–12 payments professionals located in Toronto, Austin, and Manila; implement OKR frameworks and career-ladder rubrics that increase employee engagement scores to 90 %+ within 12 months.
- • Partner with General Managers and CFOs to embed usage-based billing, multi-currency pricing, and automated tax compliance into product roadmaps, unlocking new market expansion in LATAM and EMEA.
- • Present quarterly board-level updates on payments performance, regulatory changes (PSD2, FedNow, Nacha), and strategic bets that position Banyan as the acquirer of choice for bootstrapped SaaS founders seeking a permanent home.
- • Spearhead the migration of legacy on-prem billing systems to cloud-native, microservices architectures on AWS and Azure, reducing processing latency by 40 % and cutting infrastructure costs by $1.5 M annually.
- • Design and roll out a unified merchant onboarding portal that shrinks time-to-first-transaction from weeks to hours, delighting newly acquired portfolio companies and accelerating their integration into Banyan’s shared services platform.
🎯 Requirements
- • 10+ years of progressive leadership in payments, fintech, or SaaS billing with at least 3 years in a P&L-owning role managing $500 M+ annual volume.
- • Deep expertise in card-network rules, ACH/Nacha operating guidelines, PCI-DSS, and global tax compliance (VAT, GST, sales tax).
- • Proven track record negotiating complex commercial contracts with Stripe, Adyen, FIS, or equivalent processors, yielding measurable cost savings.
- • Demonstrated success launching embedded-finance or usage-based pricing models that drove >20 % YoY revenue growth.
- • Nice-to-have: MBA or advanced degree in finance, computer science, or related field; experience with ERP migrations (NetSuite, SAP); fluency in Spanish or Portuguese for LATAM expansion.
🏖️ Benefits
- • Remote-first culture with quarterly off-sites in destinations like Whistler, Austin, and Lisbon, plus an annual $2,000 co-working stipend.
- • Equity participation in every acquisition, aligning your upside with the long-term value you create across the portfolio.
- • 100 % employer-paid platinum health, dental, and vision coverage for you and dependents, plus a $1,500 annual wellness allowance.
- • 20 days PTO, 10 company holidays, and a paid sabbatical after four years to recharge and pursue personal passions.
