📋 Description
- • Lead Protege's DataLab research function to solve fundamental challenges in AI training data access, quality, and evaluation, directly shaping product strategy and platform capabilities.
- • Define research strategy, design and oversee experiments on dataset quality, model performance, synthetic data, and privacy-preserving methods, and build scalable systems for benchmarking and evaluation across AI modalities.
- • Partner with Product, Engineering, and GTM teams to align research with company priorities, translate technical questions into actionable insights, and represent research findings in customer and partner conversations.
- • Lead, manage, and scale a high-performing team of researchers and data scientists, establishing operational rigor in experimentation, reproducibility, and documentation while driving technical excellence and career development.
- • Represent Protege externally in technical forums and customer engagements, staying at the forefront of foundation models, evaluation methodologies, data infrastructure, and AI alignment research.
- • Deliver research that influences product roadmap, improves evaluation quality, and establishes DataLab as a trusted strategic partner across the organization within the first 90 days.
🎯 Requirements
- • Proven experience leading impactful research initiatives in AI, machine learning, data infrastructure, or applied research where outcomes influenced product or business strategy.
- • Demonstrated ability to build and manage high-performing research teams that operate with autonomy, technical rigor, and fast execution cycles.
- • Experience partnering directly with customers, GTM teams, or external stakeholders in applied technical settings, with the ability to credibly represent both research and business value.
- • Expertise in developing frameworks for evaluating model performance, dataset quality, synthetic data, or large-scale experimentation systems.
- • Strong ability to communicate complex technical findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- • Experience working with modern AI systems, foundation models, LLM evaluation workflows, or privacy-centric data methodologies.
