Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Serve as the primary strategic advisor to senior leadership, translating complex business objectives into actionable People strategies that accelerate Acelero & Shine Early Learning’s mission to close the achievement gap for more than 5,000 children nationwide.
- • Own the end-to-end design and execution of talent initiatives—succession planning, performance management, leadership development, and workforce planning—that directly influence measurable child-outcome gains and position the organization as an Exemplar Head Start provider.
- • Champion a culture of continuous improvement by leading enterprise-wide engagement surveys, pulse checks, and focus groups; synthesize findings into data-driven action plans that elevate employee experience and retention across fully remote and geographically dispersed teams.
- • Drive large-scale change management for high-stakes initiatives (e.g., program expansion, technology rollouts, policy updates), ensuring leaders and frontline staff are equipped, committed, and accountable for adoption and sustained impact.
- • Provide expert, real-time counsel on complex employee-relations matters—conducting thorough investigations, recommending compliant resolutions, and mitigating risk while upholding Acelero’s commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
- • Build and oversee a robust leadership pipeline: design competency models, curate 70-20-10 development pathways, and partner with external coaches to prepare emerging leaders for rapid advancement in a high-growth, mission-critical environment.
- • Leverage advanced Excel, Google Workspace, and HRIS analytics to create executive-ready dashboards that track headcount, turnover, DEI metrics, and program ROI; translate insights into compelling narratives that influence C-suite decision-making.
- • Mentor and develop a high-performing subset of the People team, modeling servant leadership, psychological safety, and evidence-based HR practices that scale as the organization grows.
- • Collaborate cross-functionally with Finance, Program Operations, Data & Evaluation, and Policy teams to ensure People policies, compensation structures, and compliance frameworks align with federal Head Start Performance Standards and state regulations.
- • Represent the People function on enterprise risk assessments, audits, and funder reviews, articulating how strategic HR investments directly correlate with child and family outcomes celebrated by NIEER and Bellwether Education Partners.
- • Spearhead innovative recognition and wellness programs that reduce burnout in a mission-driven sector, integrating trauma-informed approaches and evidence-based self-care resources for educators and support staff.
- • Facilitate quarterly talent reviews with executive sponsors, identifying critical roles, succession gaps, and high-potential employees; secure resources for targeted development and ensure transparent communication of career pathways.
- • Translate research on early childhood workforce trends into policy recommendations that inform public-private partnerships, grant proposals, and thought-leadership content, amplifying Acelero’s voice in national ECE discourse.
- • Uphold and evolve the organization’s DEI roadmap—partnering with affinity groups, auditing policies for bias, and embedding equitable practices into recruitment, promotion, and compensation decisions.
- • Manage a 20% travel schedule to visit Head Start centers and remote teams, gathering frontline insights that refine strategic priorities and strengthen trust between headquarters and program sites.
🎯 Requirements
- • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, or related field.
- • 2–5 years of progressive HR management experience with demonstrated strategic partnership expertise.
- • 2+ years of direct supervisory or people-leadership experience.
- • Deep, current knowledge of federal and multi-state employment laws (FMLA, ADA, FLSA, Title VII) and HR compliance best practices.
- • Advanced proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets for data analysis and executive-level reporting.
- • Preferred: SPHR or SHRM-SCP certification and/or prior experience within early childhood education or Head Start environments.
