- • Lead the development and execution of tactical and operational portfolio strategies for North America Consumables or Equipment & Instruments, driving sustainable growth and market share expansion over a 1–3 year horizon.
- • Define and implement multi-year category strategies that optimize cost, quality, service, and risk across complex distribution product portfolios.
- • Direct a team of Portfolio Managers and Analysts, providing leadership, mentorship, and performance development to ensure high-output, aligned execution.
- • Build and manage preferred supplier programs, including negotiation of pricing, service levels, contract terms, and long-term partnership agreements.
- • Drive end-to-end portfolio lifecycle governance, including supplier onboarding, product rationalization, lifecycle optimization, pricing strategy, mix management, and portfolio health monitoring.
- • Establish and oversee financial and operational KPIs to improve revenue, margin, inventory efficiency, and return on invested capital across product groups.
- • Translate market intelligence, customer insights, and emerging technology trends into actionable portfolio priorities and investment decisions.
- • Partner cross-functionally with Commercial, Marketing, Operations, Regulatory, E-commerce, Supply Chain, Finance, and Legal teams to align portfolio strategy with enterprise objectives and execution plans.
- • Lead supplier consolidation and portfolio optimization initiatives with disciplined change management and clear internal/external communication to achieve financial targets.
- • Identify and pursue new growth opportunities through new supplier introductions, line extensions, and entry into adjacent markets.
- • Assess competitive and supplier innovation pipelines to anticipate customer needs and inform future portfolio direction and product roadmap decisions.
- • Represent the portfolio to senior leadership through executive-level presentations on market dynamics, competitive positioning, customer segmentation, and strategic recommendations.
- • Maintain an external market perspective through active participation in industry trade shows, forums, and professional networks.
- • Support client-facing activities including business reviews, proposals, and solution design in collaboration with the VWR Brand portfolio team to ensure line competitiveness and completeness.
- • Lead portfolio profitability strategy through margin improvement initiatives, cost structure optimization, and value-based pricing approaches.
- • Monitor and analyze sales reports, quality reports, and purchasing data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for performance improvement.
- • Communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders including Senior Leadership, Suppliers, Internal Customers, and External Customers to drive alignment and execution.
- • Ensure all portfolio decisions are grounded in financial acumen, including assessment of sales, profits, inventory investment, payment terms, return on sales, return on capital employed, and EBITDA.
🎯 Requirements
- • Bachelor’s degree required
- • Minimum of 8+ years of strategic marketing, product management, category management, sales, or related experience
- • Master’s degree in business or equivalent experience preferred
