Full Job Description

đź“‹ Description

  • • As Director of Product Management for Platform & Customer Lifecycle at Kin Insurance, you will lead the strategic vision and execution for two critical initiatives: the Policy Platform, which aims to transform Kin from an insurance company into a scalable platform enabling faster, cheaper product launches through configuration rather than custom engineering, and the Kin Customer Portal (Home Hub), designed to evolve customer interactions from episodic insurance transactions into continuous homeowner relationships by integrating insurance, financing, maintenance, and improvement services.
  • • You will define and own the multi-year product strategy for both domains, translating business goals into a clear, sequenced roadmap; lead, develop, and hire a team of product managers; raise the bar on product craft, analytical rigor, and cross-functional collaboration; and make prioritization decisions between foundational platform work and customer-facing initiatives.
  • • You will partner closely with engineering, design, actuarial, underwriting, finance, legal, and data science teams to ensure low-friction coordination on complex, cross-functional efforts, including developing API strategies, configuration models, and AI-native workflows embedded into platform and customer experiences.
  • • You will drive the evolution of the Home Hub into a digital destination that increases customer retention and average revenue per customer through multi-product adoption, while establishing platform configuration and API standards that reduce custom engineering effort for new product launches.
  • • In this role, you will build and develop a high-performing product management team, set standards for product quality, and serve as a thought partner to executive leadership on consequential architecture decisions, with success measured by a clear platform roadmap, improved team capability, documented standards, and measurable reductions in engineering effort for new product launches within your first year.

🎯 Requirements

  • • 12+ years of professional experience, with at least 8 years in software product management and at least 3 years managing and developing PM teams
  • • Proven ownership of both platform/infrastructure products and consumer-facing products, with ability to balance both modes without defaulting to one
  • • Experience with platform modernization or re-platforming at scale, including sequencing migrations without disrupting dependent teams
  • • Technical fluency sufficient to contribute to architecture and data model conversations and understand implications for reliability, scalability, and regulatory compliance
  • • Experience in Fintech, Insurtech, or financial services where pricing logic, regulatory constraints, and customer trust were concurrent challenges
  • • Track record of building PM talent, not just shipping great products yourself
  • • Written and verbal communication calibrated for both technical and executive audiences

🏖️ Benefits

  • • Competitive salary and company equity through Restricted Stock Units (RSUs)
  • • 401(k) with company match up to 4% of eligible earnings
  • • Multiple medical plan options, plus dental and vision coverage
  • • Company-funded HSA contributions (based on medical plan selection)
  • • Company-paid life insurance and short-term disability
  • • Access to mental health support and confidential counseling resources
  • • Flexible PTO for exempt employees (15–20 days per year average) plus 8 company-observed holidays
  • • Paid parental leave: up to 14 weeks at 100% pay for birthing parents and 8 weeks for non-birthing parents
  • • Professional development budgets for certifications, conferences, and learning (subject to management approval)
  • • Career mobility and internal growth opportunities across the organization
