  • • Kyverna Therapeutics is at the vanguard of developing life-changing cell therapies for individuals battling debilitating autoimmune diseases. As a patient-centered, clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company, our mission is deeply rooted in transforming the treatment landscape. We are driven by core values: Stay True to Why, Collaborate to Accelerate, Lead with Clarity, Boldly Innovative, and Own the Outcome. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director, SEC Reporting and Technical Accounting to join our dynamic team and play a pivotal role in our financial reporting infrastructure.
  • • This leadership position is instrumental in ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of all filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). You will be the primary owner of our SEC reporting processes, encompassing our quarterly (10-Q) and annual (10-K) reports, as well as other ad-hoc filings as required. Your expertise will be crucial in navigating the complexities of public company reporting requirements, ensuring compliance with U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) regulations.
  • • As the Company’s technical accounting subject matter expert, you will be responsible for researching, analyzing, and implementing accounting guidance for complex transactions. This includes, but is not limited to, revenue recognition, stock-based compensation, business combinations, leases, and other specialized areas of accounting. You will proactively identify potential accounting issues, develop appropriate accounting policies and procedures, and ensure that our financial statements accurately reflect the economic substance of our business activities.
  • • This role is critical in supporting our financial reporting function, ensuring that our financial data is robust, reliable, and meets the highest standards of integrity. You will collaborate closely with internal and external auditors, providing them with the necessary documentation and explanations to facilitate a smooth audit process. Your insights will be invaluable in strengthening our internal controls over financial reporting (ICFR) and ensuring SOX compliance.
  • • Beyond routine reporting, you will be a key player in supporting our commercialization readiness efforts. This involves assessing the accounting implications of new product launches, pricing strategies, and distribution agreements. Your technical acumen will help ensure that our financial reporting is aligned with our business objectives and supports strategic decision-making as we advance our therapies through clinical development and towards market.
  • • Furthermore, you will provide essential accounting support for strategic transactions, such as potential mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, or financing activities. This includes performing accounting due diligence, analyzing the accounting impact of proposed transactions, and ensuring proper accounting treatment post-transaction.
  • • You will lead and mentor a team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, professional development, and accountability within the accounting department. Your leadership will be vital in developing the skills and capabilities of your team members, ensuring they are equipped to handle the evolving demands of a rapidly growing biopharmaceutical company.
  • • Key responsibilities will include: overseeing the preparation and filing of all SEC reports (10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, proxy statements, etc.); researching and documenting accounting positions on complex transactions in accordance with U.S. GAAP; staying abreast of new and emerging accounting pronouncements and assessing their impact on the Company; developing and implementing accounting policies and procedures; managing the external audit relationship and ensuring timely resolution of audit queries; leading the implementation and ongoing assessment of SOX controls; supporting the accounting close process; and contributing to the overall financial strategy and operational efficiency of the Company.
  • • This is an exceptional opportunity to join a mission-driven organization at a pivotal stage of growth. You will have a direct impact on our ability to bring innovative therapies to patients and contribute significantly to the financial integrity and strategic direction of Kyverna Therapeutics.
