Full Job Description
📋 Description
- • As Director, Technical Accounting & Financial Reporting at Deepgram, you will lead the company’s preparation for its first external audit and eventual public market readiness, reporting directly to the Chief Accounting Officer and serving as the technical authority on complex accounting matters.
- • You will own technical accounting across revenue recognition (ASC 606), stock-based compensation (ASC 718), capitalized software, leases (ASC 842), business combinations (ASC 805), and complex financing instruments, while preparing GAAP financial statements and footnotes from scratch.
- • You will quarterback the external audit process, manage external advisors and valuation specialists, partner with tax on transfer pricing, and build the foundation for SEC reporting (S-1, 10-K, 10-Q) and SOX readiness.
- • You will develop scalable accounting policies, leverage AI aggressively for research and automation, and build and scale the finance team as Deepgram prepares for IPO.
🎯 Requirements
- • Active CPA with a strong Big 4 or national firm foundation
- • 8+ years of progressive experience in technical accounting and/or financial reporting with deep fluency in US GAAP
- • Hands-on expertise in revenue (ASC 606), equity compensation (ASC 718), leases (ASC 842), and business combinations (ASC 805), including the ability to draft defensible technical memos independently
- • Experience preparing GAAP financial statements and footnotes from scratch, not just reviewing them
- • Proven ability to manage external auditors and accounting consultants, including scoping, directing, and pushing back on work
- • Demonstrated AI-native working style: daily use of LLMs for drafting, research, and analysis, with ability to articulate their strengths and limitations in accounting contexts
- • Strong written and verbal communication skills to translate technical accounting for non-accountants without losing precision
- • Comfort writing small scripts or automations (Python, SQL, etc.) to accelerate personal workflows
🏖️ Benefits
- • Medical, dental, and vision benefits
- • Annual wellness stipend and mental health support
- • Unlimited PTO, generous paid parental leave, and flexible schedule
- • 12 paid US company holidays and quarterly personal productivity stipend
- • One-time home office upgrade stipend and 401(k) plan with company match
- • Learning/education stipend, participation in talks and conferences, and AI enablement workshops
