Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Own the end-to-end trade compliance agenda for Nextracker across North America, Oceania and APAC, translating complex, fast-changing regulations into a competitive advantage that keeps gigawatts of utility-scale solar hardware moving on time and on budget.
- • Architect and execute a multi-year, import-centric strategy that balances risk, cost and speed—covering the United States, Canada and Australia as primary markets while providing governance and best-practice oversight for APAC and Oceania operations.
- • Serve as the company’s de-facto Importer of Record (IOR) leader in the U.S., Canada and Australia, personally signing off on high-value entries, ISF filings, reconciliation cycles and post-entry audits to guarantee 100 % customs clearance accuracy and zero shipment delays.
- • Build and continuously refine a library of policies, standard operating procedures and internal controls that are auditable by any customs authority, embedding compliance into every sourcing, engineering and logistics decision before a single bolt ships.
- • Stand up and run a global “center of excellence” in one core discipline—classification, origin, valuation or duty-optimization—owning master data, maintaining live rulings and issuing definitive guidance that regional teams treat as the single source of truth.
- • Drive measurable landed-cost savings through tariff engineering, preferential trade programs (USMCA, FTAs), Chapter 98, drawback, First Sale for Export and Section 232 steel exclusions; prepare executive-ready business cases and shepherd adoption across sourcing, finance and sales.
- • Monitor emerging trade laws, sanctions and anti-dumping/countervailing duty actions; brief the C-suite on strategic options and coordinate company-wide responses with Legal, Government Affairs and Supply Chain leadership.
- • Select, contract and performance-manage a world-class network of customs brokers, freight forwarders and specialized outside counsel; negotiate KPI-driven SLAs and hold quarterly business reviews to ensure service excellence and cost discipline.
- • Govern the accuracy of HTS, ECCN, COO and related product attributes inside Oracle ERP and Global Trade Management (GTM) systems; deploy dashboards and exception-based analytics that flag anomalies, support sourcing decisions and feed executive-level KPI reporting.
- • Lead the roadmap to achieve and sustain CTPAT Importer certification, coordinating physical site security, procedural controls and IT-security criteria across plants, warehouses and third-party logistics partners to shrink dwell time and inspection risk.
- • Maintain a proportionate but bullet-proof export-control framework—determining ECCNs, performing restricted-party screening, securing licenses where required and maintaining full records—to support occasional outbound shipments of spare parts and prototypes.
- • Influence sourcing, engineering, logistics and commercial teams during new-product introductions, sourcing shifts, systems rollouts and M&A due diligence, ensuring that every design change or supplier move preserves market access and duty-optimization opportunities.
- • Travel up to 15 % (domestic and occasional international) to audit suppliers, train regional teams and represent Nextracker in front of customs authorities, industry associations and key customers.
- • Champion a culture of compliance and continuous improvement across a rapidly scaling, mission-driven organization that is literally re-wiring the planet’s energy infrastructure with intelligent solar technology.
