📋 Description

• The Doctor of Management in Community College Policy and Administration (DMCCPA) adjunct faculty role is critical to advancing the education of scholar-practitioners who will lead and improve community colleges nationwide. This position supports UMGC’s mission to serve adult learners, including military-affiliated students, by delivering rigorous, practice-based doctoral instruction.
• Day to day, the adjunct faculty member will teach doctoral-level courses remotely, engage students through frequent and meaningful interaction, guide collaborative learning and project-based applications, provide detailed feedback using rubrics, mentor students through the dissertation process, and contribute to program improvement by sharing insights with the program chair.
• The team is part of UMGC Stateside, a mission-driven institution within the University System of Maryland serving over 90,000 students globally, with a strong focus on adult learners, working professionals, and military-affiliated students. The faculty community emphasizes scholar-practitioner values, blending real-world expertise with academic rigor to prepare students for leadership in community college policy and administration.
• In this role, the faculty member will deepen their expertise in community college policy, enhance their ability to teach and mentor doctoral students online, contribute to practitioner-focused scholarship, and strengthen professional networks within higher education and community college organizations, all while fulfilling UMGC’s commitment to student success and inclusive education.

🎯 Requirements

• Terminal degree in Community College Policy and Administration, Higher Education, or a related field from an accredited institution.
• At least three years of professional experience in Community College Policy and Administration or a related field.
• Demonstrated deep knowledge of current issues in community colleges.
• Ability to advise and mentor doctoral students through the dissertation process.
• Required participation in on-site residency one weekend per semester in Largo, MD.
• Experience teaching adult learners online and in higher education (preferred).
