Full Job Description

đź“‹ Description

  • • Serve as the single point of accountability for Ryder’s enterprise-wide drug-and-alcohol compliance program, translating FMCSA and DOT regulations into practical, repeatable processes that keep 50,000+ drivers and logistics professionals legally qualified and our customers’ freight moving.
  • • Orchestrate the full lifecycle of pre-employment and post-employment testing: schedule collections, track custody-and-control forms, review lab results, coordinate Medical Review Officer (MRO) verifications, and document every step in a 100 % audit-ready electronic file system.
  • • Monitor real-time dashboards spanning HRIS, safety, and third-party lab portals to spot missing tests, expired medical certificates, or non-negative results within minutes; initiate corrective action within regulatory timeframes to prevent costly driver de-qualifications or service disruptions.
  • • Translate dense regulatory language into clear, actionable guidance for recruiters, field managers, and drivers; author policy updates, quick-reference guides, and bite-sized training decks that reduce compliance errors and accelerate new-hire onboarding.
  • • Investigate and resolve escalated cases—adulterated specimens, shy-lung scenarios, medical marijuana exceptions—by partnering with MROs, Substance Abuse Professionals (SAPs), and Ryder legal counsel to balance employee rights with company liability.
  • • Conduct rigorous quarterly internal audits of driver qualification files and random-testing pools; present findings, root-cause analyses, and remediation roadmaps to senior leadership to ensure a defensible posture during DOT audits and high-stakes customer reviews.
  • • Drive continuous improvement by mining program metrics—test completion rates, average time-to-clear, cost per test—and recommend technology enhancements or process redesigns that cut administrative overhead without compromising safety or compliance.
  • • Embed compliant drug-and-alcohol workflows directly into Talent Acquisition requisitions, offer letters, and background-check packages so every candidate meets DOT standards before the first dispatch.
  • • Own vendor relationships with 300+ collection sites, national laboratories, and consortium/third-party administrators; negotiate SLAs, monitor turnaround times, enforce quality standards, and escalate service failures to guarantee reliable, defensible results.
  • • Provide confidential, empathetic support to employees navigating return-to-duty programs: schedule SAP evaluations, coordinate follow-up testing, track training completion, and celebrate successful reinstatement milestones.
  • • Act as Ryder’s front-line ambassador during DOT, state, and customer compliance inspections—deliver requested documentation within hours and articulate our safety culture with confidence, accuracy, and professionalism.
  • • Harness intermediate-to-advanced Microsoft Office skills—Excel pivot tables, Power BI dashboards, Outlook rules, and Teams automation—to build self-updating reports, visualize trends, and keep a fully remote, nationwide team aligned.
  • • Champion a culture of safety and accountability by hosting monthly virtual town-halls for drivers and supervisors, spotlighting recent regulation changes, common compliance pitfalls, and best-practice success stories that protect both people and profit.
  • • Maintain meticulous records in strict accordance with 49 CFR Part 40 retention mandates, ensuring every document—from custody-and-control forms to annual MIS reports—is retrievable for at least five years and ready for unannounced regulatory scrutiny.
  • • Thrive in a fast-paced, metrics-driven environment where priorities shift hourly; balance case management, stakeholder calls, and strategic project work without ever missing a regulatory deadline or compromising Ryder’s reputation for safety excellence.
